University of Virginia Assistant Laboratory Manager, Cytology and Administrative Support teams in Charlottesville, Virginia

Responsible for supporting the Director in administrative duties of the lab on all shifts. The

Assistant Laboratory Manager will provide leadership by collaborating with members of the health care team to oversee the daily operation of the laboratory in accordance with all regulatory agencies. Participates in organizational and lab based quality improvement activities.

  • Share accountability with manager for unit/department/organizational goals achievement including, team member engagement and continuous process improvement.

  • Under supervision from manager, participates in basic human resource functions to include recruitment, retention, coaching, training, evaluation, and development, as well as preparation and delegation of work schedules and workflow.

  • Provides managerial support as required.

  • Develops implements and participates in Quality Improvement Processes activities.

  • Maintains all records pertaining to the staff competency and quality audits and other related records.

  • Supports educational mission through training of laboratory students, and all staff performing laboratory procedures.

  • Manages within approved budget and allocates resources in a cost-effective manner.

  • Serves as a professional role model, coach, and resource for employees.

  • Works with members of the health care team in activities designed to improve patient care outcomes.

  • Assumes responsibility for own professional growth.

  • ln addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $74,900.80 - $119,849.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Compliance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act & Amendments (CLIA)

EXPERIENCE: 3 years of leadership experience in a complex health environment

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: CT or HTL, ASCP or equivalent. May require a valid Virginia Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps) and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 35lbs.
