Robert Half Staff Accountant in Charlotte, North Carolina

Description We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the construction/contractor industry, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The primary job function will involve maintaining and processing customer credit applications and records, as well as working to resolve customer credit inquiries. This role also requires the monitoring of customer credit accounts and taking necessary actions for delinquent payments.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately and efficiently process customer credit applications

• Maintain precise customer credit records

• Assist with monthly owner billings, including the preparation of lien waiver forms

• Support financial statement auditors annually

• Assist job auditors as required

• Research cost issues for Project Managers and make necessary cost corrections

• Allocate monthly postage expenses, equipment and safety charges, and other similar items to applicable jobs

• Review monthly truck/equipment, Forms & Supplies, permits, and general liability insurance/computer/warehouse charges before posting

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for operating accounts

• Verify that all the account receivable, retainage receivable, accounts payable, and retainage payable general ledger balances align with the subledger balances

• Update the depreciation schedules to reflect asset additions and disposals

• Complete Credit Applications and obtain necessary signatures

• Prepare and file Sales and Use taxes monthly

• Assist other accounting staff with questions or problems as needed. Requirements • Possession of a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Staff Accountant within the construction or contractor industry.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger maintenance, and Journal Entries.

• Experience with Month End Close procedures and Account Reconciliation.

• Familiarity with Bank Account Reconciliation and Balance Sheet Reconciliation.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

• Willingness to continuously improve and learn new accounting practices and standards.
