Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Provides leadership to engineering projects and associated engineering teams to improve processes and team performance. Works cross-functionally with other leaders and utilizes technical knowledge and critical thinking skills to advance the innovation process to enable the delivery of new products. Provides solutions to product quality issues by planning, organizing, and implementing improvement projects. Assists with organizational strategy planning and reviews
Key Responsibilities
Ensures on-schedule and on-budget completion of operational deliverables for engineering programs
Provides leadership and leads problem solving efforts to ensure timely resolution of project issues, to include forming and implementing long-term solutions
Coordinate with other Program/Project Managers to ensure a clear, unified understanding of priorities and next steps needed to execute the operational plan
Provides recommendations and direction to leaders and peers to ensure departmental and individual team effectiveness throughout the operational execution of engineering programs
Proficient in use of statistical data analysis in the development and execution of operational forecasts. Track and analyze project performance to apply past trends to future planning
Provides general engineering knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals) and leads projects to get to the root cause of product issues and puts permanent solutions in place
Provides disciplined project leadership across multiple stages of innovation for new product and process improvement initiatives
Develops subject matter expertise of materials, processes, and/or products in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering
Work with internal and external customers to understand priorities and translate the customer priorities to an executable plan
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external customers for quick response and problem solving
Required Education/Experiences
Bachelor of Science in a technical field
Minimum of 4 years of team leadership experience with proven success
Ability to align and influence teams to deliver results
Ability to simplify complex situations and deal with ambiguity
Strong skills in data analysis
Strong communications and interpersonal skills
Assertive, result-oriented and responsive; utilizes network, SMEs and other available resources to facilitate driving tasks to closure
Ability to maintain composure and professional demeanor at all times
Fluent in written and spoken English
Occasional travel to customer locations (<15%)

The range for this position is $121,756.00 - $167,415.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
