Reporting directly to the Head of Production Support, the role requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in both solution and system architecture. The candidate will proactively identify opportunities and drive innovative solutions across key areas—enhancing resiliency, segmentation, cloud transformation, and AI Ops. This includes integrating advanced AI capabilities that deliver benefits such as enhanced automation, real-time monitoring and insights, advanced anomaly detection, and accelerated incident resolution, all of which contribute to proactive issue detection, predictive maintenance, and overall enhanced operational efficiency. They will also establish and implement clear architecture principles, patterns, standards, and practices that seamlessly integrate into existing platforms and applications, while crafting compelling cases for change and developing robust business cases that articulate the benefits and ROI of proposed solutions. Leveraging advanced knowledge of banking technology and IT architecture, the candidate will identify, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge alternatives in a constantly evolving landscape. This includes selecting the most effective methodologies, tools, and components to build resilient, secure, and scalable IT solutions, as well as mentoring solution architects in crafting detailed designs across multi-platform systems. Ultimately, the role requires a visionary leader who can interpret complex business challenges and recommend best practices, ensuring that the technology infrastructure not only meets current needs but is also primed for future growth through innovative AI Ops and modernized infrastructure solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Top-down technology infrastructure architecture roadmap development and design with focus on enabling software defined infrastructure implementation, provisioning and consumption, along with collaboration with infrastructure and application technology leaders and risk partners to refine and instantiate a hybrid cloud strategy reflecting corporate objectives/strategy and risk appetite.

  2. Architect cross-cutting enterprise infrastructure solutions that span across multiple CIOs and domains and across the spectrum of technology infrastructure platforms.

  3. Provide thought leadership based on hands-on experience in the development and modernization of technology infrastructure standards enabling modern approaches to technology resiliency.

  4. Set, adapt, and instantiate strategic direction for technology infrastructure in alignment with the Business Strategy and Technology standards and provide thought leadership in the development of an enterprise strategic IT plan.

  5. Maintain a high level of awareness and understanding of existing and emerging infrastructure technologies, as well as industry and bank issues, to effectively match them.

  6. End to end accountability to review and approve design solutions that are fit-for-purpose in meeting the business needs of the enterprise while continuing the evolution of the technology landscape.

  7. Lead or "jump start" technology infrastructure initiatives deemed critical to and Truist's technology services.

  8. Provide thought leadership in new technology innovation, incubation, introduction and implementation critical to Truist's technology and business strategy roadmaps and ongoing success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field

  2. Fifteen (15) years of architecture/design/delivery experience which includes ten (10) years of enterprise architecture experience or fifteen (15) years' solution architecture experience in technology and security, and five years of banking/financial business domain

  3. Comprehensive experience with various architectural domains including infrastructure and complementary domains such as application, data, and integration

  4. Strong analytical and broad architectural skills

  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills

  6. Strong negotiation/facilitation skills

  7. Significant knowledge of current and emerging architecture principles, methodologies and tools

  8. Experience as negotiator with vendors for relevant products and services

  9. Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking with ability to differentiate feasible from academic solutions

  10. Demonstrated thought-leadership skills with the ability to translate high-level business planning information into application needs/solutions

  11. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

  12. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree preferred

  2. Expertise in designing, testing, and scaling resilient architectures that maintain high availability and fault tolerance under heavy transactional loads.

  3. Experience with chaos engineering, disaster recovery planning, and building self-healing systems.

  4. Deep understanding of service-level objectives (SLOs) and service-level agreements (SLAs) in mission-critical environments.

  5. Proven experience in integrating AI/ML models into operational workflows for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and real-time decision support.

  6. Strong background in data analytics and leveraging big data frameworks to enhance the accuracy of predictive algorithms.

  7. Familiarity with AI/ML Ops practices to ensure robust model deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

  8. Skill in implementing state-of-the-art observability platforms to provide deep insights into system performance, enabling proactive issue resolution.

  9. Proficiency with modern telemetry, logging, and monitoring tools that integrate seamlessly with AI/ML systems.

  10. Experience ensuring that resilient and AI-driven infrastructures adhere to stringent financial services regulations and cybersecurity best practices.

  11. Ability to integrate security and compliance as integral parts of the overall architecture, particularly in an evolving threat landscape.

  12. Demonstrated track record of leveraging emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement and foster an innovation culture.

  13. Strong problem-solving skills to pioneer creative solutions that address both current and future operational challenges.
