Wells Fargo R-379242 Senior Lead Risk Analytics Consultant- Consumer Credit, Corporate Risk in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking to add two Senior Lead Risk Analytics Consultant roles to become a part of the Corporate Risk group's Credit Risk line of business.

This team improves risk strategies in multiple areas (credit line management, authorizations, etc...) by performing various complex activities related to business analysis, solving business problems, and impacting the bottom line by proposing and implementing data-driven actions.

In the analytically focused role, you will:

Be aligned to the Credit Risk team providing support by leading, developing and implementing strategic initiatives and processes to drive the company's credit culture, risk appetite, and business performance. Individuals who will excel in this role will hold experience in Small Business Banking and/or Deposits.

Also, the team provides analytical support on consumer and business credit, operating losses and other product strategies to ensure company goals are met; segments and monitors various credit, deposit and other product groups, vintages, etc... and makes recommendations to management based on observed trends; produces performance monitoring and benchmarks regarding growth, mix, delinquency, losses and overall credit performance; coordinates production of monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for senior management; reviews and analyzes trends in current population distributions and recommending strategies; works with business partners to provide analytic solutions and develops strategies to support or negate change recommendations.

  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to experienced leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions that are large-scale, companywide strategies

  • Lead with strong credit risk culture to resolve highly complex and unique challenges requiring strategic, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

  • Extract data to provide statistical and financial analysis, delivering solutions and analysis that are long-term and large scale which require vision, innovation, and coordination of highly complex activities and guidance to others

  • Create and coordinate analysis to support high-priority time-sensitive executive level requests

  • Act as an advisor to experienced leaders to monitor, interpret, develop and influence portfolio analysis and deliver strategic solutions for highly complex business analysis

  • Analyze credit risk trends identifying potential issues and providing actionable insights to enhance risk mitigation strategies

  • Advise senior leadership to develop and implement strategies, programs and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite and organizational goals

  • Engage and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering open communication and collaboration

  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks in credit management to proactively recommend adjustments to policies and procedures

  • Be an impactful team representative in senior leadership forums

In the Commercial oversight role, you will:

Oversee Small Business Banking products underwritten with Commercial standards by leveraging current or previous experience and knowledge of credit risk management, business functions, technology solutions, products, and services to provide independent, credit risk leadership and oversight of the businesses. Individuals who will excel in this role will hold experience in Wholesale and/or Commercial Real Estate.

This role will interact with executive and senior management within the business aligned Chief Risk Officer (CRO) teams, specifically focused on credit risk management and oversight. They will provide leadership to a matrixed team, who together are responsible for ensuring credit policies, programs, products and strategies are within business and company credit risk appetite, are well controlled and monitored to manage the risk, and follow governance and enterprise program requirements, as applicable

  • Lead with strong credit risk culture to resolve highly complex and unique challenges requiring strategic, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to experienced leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions that are large-scale, companywide strategies

  • Advise senior leadership to develop and implement strategies, programs and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite

  • Monitor, assess and provide oversight of asset quality, portfolio trends and credit policy exception trends

  • Act as an advisor to experienced leaders to monitor, interpret, develop and influence portfolio analysis and deliver strategic solutions for highly complex business analysis

  • Review and provide credible challenge of line of business credit products, programs, policies and credit transactions

  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks in credit management to proactively recommend adjustments to policies and procedures

  • Engage and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering open communication and collaboration

  • Collaborate and partner with audit, legal, compliance, external agencies, and regulatory entities on risk related topics

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in quantitative discipline such as economics, statistics, or operations research

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Advanced MS Office Suite product skills to include (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Word, etc...).

  • Excellent proficiency in programming and data manipulation using SAS, SQL, Python, and Tableau

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

  • Ability to gather, analyze, package, and present analytical findings in an insightful and logical manner

  • Experience communicating and presenting complex information to multiple levels of the organization including senior executive-level leaders

  • Previous experience with credit risk strategy development and monitoring portfolios and trends in the financial service industry

  • Attention to detail, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience as a Senior Credit Officer or experience in leading a credit risk team

  • Credit risk experience across the credit life cycle (marketing, originations, account management, collections/loss mitigation, recovery)

  • Experience with credit evaluation (quality assurance, risk asset review, underwriting, portfolio management, etc.)

  • Proven ability to lead in a highly matrixed environment across all organizational levels, particularly senior management

  • Strong risk background and broad familiarity with regulation and risk requirements within a consumer lending business with an emphasis on home lending

  • Demonstrates an ability to credibly challenge senior leadership and influence decision-making

  • Executive presence that will enable effective partnering with business aligned CRO's and CEO's in driving strategic credit decisions and resolving credit related issues

  • Knowledge of industry solutions and best practices including direct experience with decision management software

  • Experience communicating and presenting complex information to multiple levels of the organization including senior executive-level leaders
