Manager, Operational Transfer Pricing

This role is at the confluence of two competencies - Transfer Pricing and Technology/Process Optimization.

Transfer pricing (TP) on a global scale - a multidisciplinary field that integrates economics, business, finance, legal, and tax principles in the analysis of global intercompany transactions. Within the broader area of TP, the domain of OTP covers various systems and processes that clients use to implement the transfer pricing policies and accurately calculate figures for financial and tax reporting compliance in various countries. Data analytics and technology play an increasingly important role in how our clients set and monitor intercompany pricing to implement transfer pricing principles. Over 100 countries now require compliance with their transfer pricing regulations and most companies are still playing catch up to upgrade their systems and processes. This is now one of our fastest growing TP areas.

What You'll Do

As an Operational Transfer Pricing Manager/SM you will work with our transfer pricing and technology leaders to understand client concerns, conceptualize solutions, and deliver OTP solutions. While on one hand, you will propose, design and drive agile bespoke solutions, on the other you will grow into subject matter experts around transfer pricing processes for our large Finance Transformation and ERP Implementation projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with OTP leadership group to coordinate and drive various efforts around practice development

  • Sales: Apply transfer pricing process knowledge to understand client challenges and offer creative solutions. Help organize client workshops to understand OTP (and associated FP&A, Accounting and Technology) requirements.

  • Design and Deliver Solutions: Collaborate with TP, FP&A, Accounting and Technology teams in design and delivery of OTP solutions, while managing a team of younger professionals.

  • OTP Tool Portfolio Management: Develop an understanding of current portfolio of Deloitte and non-Deloitte tools, while supporting further development/ enhancement of such tools.

  • OTP Talent Development: By leveraging Deloitte's recruiting and training capabilities, work with OTP leadership team to grow and train Deloitte's OTP team.

  • Hands on data wrangling and programming on relevant data management tools is preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a role combining management of transfer pricing processes for a multinational company, transfer pricing consulting, and familiarity with data management and analysis systems

  • Knowledge of Data Management tools, such as advanced Excel, VB, Alteryx, Power BI, SQL, and Python.

  • Comfort with understanding data and complicated calculations involving multiple data sources

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week. Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Management, Business, Mathematics/Statistics, or equivalent

  • Prior supervisory experience

  • Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

  • One of the following active accreditations obtained:

  • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA

  • If not CPA eligible, one of the other designations listed below based on role requirements and business approval:

  • Licensed attorney

  • Enrolled Agent

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Management, Business, Public Policy, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, or equivalent (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)

  • Previous Big 4, transfer pricing or financial experience

  • Highly motivated transfer pricing expert with a deep understanding of transfer pricing principles, their theory and interpretation

  • Strong project management skills and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment

This compensation range is specific to Washington, DC, and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $ 126,630 to $ 235,170 .

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
