CITY OF CHAMPLIN Ice Forum Building Attendant in Champlin, Minnesota

POSITION SUMMARY The Ice Forum Building Attendant is a part-time position that is primarily responsible for the operation of the Ice Forum building in the absence of full-time personnel. The position responsibilities include opening and closing of the facility, janitorial tasks (locker rooms, bathrooms, hallways, bleachers, community rooms, and lobby), building supervision, resurfacing the ice, equipment monitoring, building maintenance, and community room set ups. This position will interact with the public, businesses, and other groups in a professional, courteous, safe, and respectful manner. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for opening and closing Ice Forum as per work schedule assignments and to ensure it is safe and secure. Supervise and delegate job assignments for other part-time personnel (Rink Attendants, Announcers, and Ticket Takers) when full-time personnel are absent. Resurfaces the ice on time and assists in the overall care of the ice sheet and maintenance of the ice resurfacer equipment. Performs front office duties that can include but not limited to answering phones, giving change, sharpening skates, shoveling locker room assignments, and assuring money are secured at the beginning and the end of each shift. Assists in monitoring open skating sessions and managing open skate rental distribution and returns. Responsible for event security, taking tickets, and cleanup after each session (open skate, ice skating and hockey practices, community events, high school hockey games, etc.), which includes cleaning in and around the concession stand, lobby, and bleachers. Responsible for collecting ice rental and room rental fees as assigned. Assists in overall building supervision and maintenance for building usage, completing necessary duties, and reporting for groups using the facility. Responsible for actively maintaining and cleaning the lobby, restrooms, locker rooms, bleachers, glass, storage rooms, inside and outside garbage containers, hallways, and front office. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to identify issues and proactively address them to position the City in a positive manner. Knowledge of ice arena practices and procedures. Knowledge of ice arena equipment, materials, tools, and maintenance. Ability to work as part of a team and establish and maintain good working relationships with general public, contractors, businesses, organizations, and staff while displaying political agility and discretion. Strong sense of initiative and integrity; ability to work independently, follow-through with projects, provide self-direction, and perform safety procedures. Ability to provide strong customer service skills. Ability to operate an ice resurfacer (Zamboni) or demonstrate proficiency in learning to operate one.
