Aerotek Powder Coater in CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa

Job Description

Apply paint or powder coating to protect or decorate work piece surfaces using spray guns. Responsible for the proper mixing of paints, selection of powder coat colors, and maintenance of the equipment used in the processes.

Responsibilities

  • Examine finished surfaces of work pieces to verify conformance to specifications; then retouch any defective areas.

  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment using solvents, brushes, and rags.

  • Read job orders and inspect work pieces to determine work procedures and materials required.

  • Clean surfaces of work pieces in preparation for coating using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, steam, sandpaper, or cloth.

  • Rinse, drain, or wipe coated work pieces to remove excess coating material or to facilitate setting of finish coats on work pieces.

  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.

  • Use spray application production equipment.

  • Examine products or work to verify conformance to specifications.

  • Apply cleaning solvents.

  • Follow work orders, instructions, formulas, or processing charts.

  • Process and record all pertinent information per NADCAP specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1 year manufacturing or 1 year painting experience

  • Ability to wear a respirator

  • Lift 50lbs

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Work Environment

This is a 2nd shift position from 3-11:30pm. The job requires maintaining a stationary position, moving, or traversing; engaging in face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams; and working collaboratively in a group or team. The employee must occasionally move up to 50 pounds. Specific abilities required include detecting, determining, perceiving, identifying, recognizing, judging, observing, inspecting, estimating, and assessing. Special protective equipment such as respirators, hearing protections, and protective air-conditioned suits are required. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud due to the air hose being used.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
