Description
The Buyer reports to the Procurement Lead in the Knowles Global Supply Chain organization. This role is responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and expediting of all required materials, services, and outside processes of the Cazenovia, NY operation. Cost management, efficient inventory, and supply continuity will be the goals of this position. Other related tasks may be assigned by the Procurement Lead, Procurement Supervisor, & Sr. Manager on occasion.
Key Responsibilities
Procure raw material and services as needed.
Responsible to maintain and update purchase orders and excel files related to outside processing
Ensure timely collection of necessary documents for completion of new supplier set up in Oracle
Maintain configuration of item profiles in Oracle with current data. Item details such as: List price, lead time, receipt routing.
Monitor market trends for critical raw materials.
Resolve invoice issues as needed.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, identifying and resolving supply chain issues.
Maintaining and nurturing mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers
Offer suggestions to reduce inventory, overall cost, and increase inventory turns while ensuring continuity of supply
Facilitate in the internal transfer of materials between KPD organizations
Respond to tactical inquiries regarding existing Purchasing procedures
Source & coordinate the transit of freight shipments
Provide summary reporting to Lead Buyer as needed and escalate awareness of supply disruptions as directed
Negotiate pricing, contracts and payment terms with current and potential suppliers.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
1-3 years of progressive work experience
Work or education experience in Supply Chain Management in manufacturing environment preferred
Experience working with AS9100 or ISO 9001 or similar QMS is preferred
Ability to work on site at least once weekly at Cazenovia, NY facility
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to learn Oracle ERP systems and procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Excel & other Microsoft Office Suite software
Ability to maintain confidential information

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required.

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting base pay for this role is targeted to be between $65,000 to $80,000 per year.
Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Knowles, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company.
