Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as aCentral Characterization Program (CCP) Engineering Services Managerto join our team. This position is located in Carlsbad, NM.

The CCP Engineering Services Manager will be responsible for managing CCP Engineering support personnel to accomplish the defined scope with CCP procedures, Host Site interface agreements and regulatory requirements. These responsibilities include planning, organizing, and setting expectations for personnel supporting the completion of assigned projects while ensuring these projects meet goals and objectives, are on time, on budget, and within scope. These groups include CCP Configuration Management Engineers, CCP Nondestructive Assay Cognizant Engineers, CCP Nondestructive Examination Cognizant Engineers and CCP Flammable Gas Analysis Cognizant Engineers. In addition to the responsibilities listed above the individual will also be responsible for technical reviews of characterization/certification procedures used for data collection to determine whether the waste meets the regulatory requirements.

In order to accomplish this, the successful candidate will have an advanced knowledge of: the WIPP Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (HWFP) Attachment C - Waste Analysis Plan (WAP), WIPP Land Withdrawal Act (LWA), Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) Quality Assurance Program Document (QAPD), as well as a demonstrated knowledge of: the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Type B Packages used for Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), and the applicable Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (SARP), the Transuranic Waste Authorized Methods for Payload Control (TRAMPAC), the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC), the WIPP Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), the implementing the elements of Conduct of Operations.

This position may require moderate domestic travel to active and/or potential Host Sites.

Exempt Salary Grade (34-36)

Minimum Requirements:These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and applications are the means of determination.

  • Bachelor-s degree with five (5) years, or

  • Associate-s degree with nine (9) years of relevant experience, or

  • High School Diploma or GED with thirteen (13) years of relevant experience is required.

  • Two (2) years of management experience.

  • Experience/Proficiency with Microsoft Applications is mandatory.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Q-Clearance.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. Citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience within CCP.

  • Knowledge of DOE Order 422.1, Conduct of Operations

  • Knowledge of DOE Order 414.1D, Quality Assurance

  • Advanced Knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

  • Advanced Knowledge of WIPP HWFP Attachment C

  • Advanced Knowledge of TRAMPACs

  • Advanced Knowledge of WIPP DSA

  • Advanced Knowledge of WIPP LWA

  • Advanced Knowledge of WIPP WAC

Minimum salary $109,803 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate-s relevant experience and education.
