Lighthouse Arts & Land LLC Agricultural Equipment Operators in Cape Vincent, New York

2 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs Available 5/15/2025- 03/15/2026.

All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment. We are a small seasonally certified organic family farm with a herd of 110 registered Jersey cows. Our cows calve from May to November to avoid calves being born in sub-zero weather. Calving is the highest risk time for the mother cow and warm weather eases that risk. The result is a very seasonal workload of raising calves and getting the hay crop harvest and stored.

The workers will care for and monitor fresh cows, feed calves, drive tractor, and perform general maintenance on the farm including cleaning and moving fences for required rotational grazing. Cows graze and calf on pasture so shepherding skills are critical for handling cows. Workers may operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis.

Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Workers must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Work requires standing, kneeling and bending for long periods of time. Worker must be willing to work in varied weather conditions from cold, frozen winter to hot, humid summer days. Workers must be available to work on Saturdays. Workers may be required to work 7-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Monday through Friday and may be required to work 5-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on Saturdays. Workers will get at least 30-minute Lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers. Workers can choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 30 minutes are up. Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, farm conditions, and other factors. Employers will notify workers of any change to the schedule. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. Employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform all duties assigned. Worker must take directions in simple English.
