Job Exploration Specialist
Salary: $21.18 - $22.55
Position Overview: The Job Exploration Specialist is responsible for providing a range of services to students and adults to help them explore and achieve their vocational goals. This includes guiding individuals in identifying career paths, gaining work experience, and developing self-advocacy skills. The role involves completing assessments to evaluate strengths, skills, interests, and work readiness, and recommending suitable vocational options. The specialist coordinates services and meetings with various stakeholders, including individuals, families, businesses, and ACCES-VR. They also ensure that services are delivered according to program guidelines and timelines, maintain communication with relevant parties, and promote community connections. Administrative duties, including documentation and reporting, are also a key part of the role. Additionally, the specialist stays updated on relevant training and supports other programs as needed. No two days are alike in this fast-paced, fun, and dynamic position, making it never boring as you help others gain employment skills through varied work experiences.
Work Locati on: Canandaigua, NY
Schedule: M-F 8am-4pm; Flexibility in schedule required to meet agency needs.

Responsibilities
Conducts Pre-Employment Transition Services to include Career Exploration Assessment, Job Exploration Counseling, Community Based Work Assessments, and Post-Secondary Counseling as well as Self Advocacy and Work Readiness Training.
Follows timelines to coordinate initial meetings with the person referred and others (parents, Care Coordinators, etc.) when appropriate. Coordinates meetings that work best for the person (in person or over zoom).
Serves as agency representative regarding assigned referrals and assessments.

Requirements
Master's in vocational rehab or related area such as personnel, counseling and guidance and one year of experience in vocational rehabilitation or other suitable field OR a Bachelor's degree and three-year experience with two of those years providing vocational assessment services.
Strong communication and organizational skills essential, previous experience in assessment and/or training of others in a community setting preferred.
Must have a desire to work with individuals with disabilities, including students with disabilities and their families; have knowledge and understanding of the intent of Pre-Employment Transition Services; have the ability to engage, work with and communicate with students and adults; be able to assess and monitor service progress; be able to document service outcomes and write clear, concise reports.
Must be able to identify a wide variety of workplace supports; address employer concerns and negotiate resolutions: assess and monitor the ACCES-VR customer's progress.
