DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Special Education Teacher for the DOC, you teach incarcerated adults and youths aged 21 and under, at SCI, Camp Hill.

Your responsibilities include establishing classroom rules and procedures to maintain an effective and safe learning environment. You develop individualized educational plans for students and prepare lesson plans specifying content and activities to be covered, sequence of instruction, materials needed, and standards for lesson accomplishment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. All positions require possession of a valid and active professional special education certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. When no candidates possess the named certification, the candidate must be eligible for an Emergency Permit issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that is appropriate to the position. This is a Commonwealth Secondary Diploma facility.  An employee assigned to a Commonwealth Secondary Diploma facility who was hired based on eligibility for an Emergency Permit must obtain a valid and active special education certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
