DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be entrusted with the handling of all incoming and outgoing mail. Your duties will involve meticulously inspecting letters and packages sent to inmates to identify and prevent the introduction of prohibited items. You will have the authority to refuse inbound items if they are improperly addressed or if there is reasonable suspicion that they may contain contraband. Attention to detail is essential as you examine and search each item, ensuring compliance with mailroom procedures and United States Postal Service regulations. Additionally, you will transport items using handcarts and dollies to distribution points, maintain logs of inmate property sent to the property office, and stay up to date with any procedural changes affecting mail processing and delivery.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of clerical experience, including one year in the field of corrections; or Any combination of experience and/or training which provides the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
