Nuclear Fuel Services Quality Engineer in Cambridge, Ontario

We are recruiting for a Quality Engineer for our facility in Cambridge, ON.

JOB PURPOSE:

In support of the business, a focused Quality Assurance team implements and supports a world class QA system, compliant with the latest Canadian and International QA Standards.

This job reports to the Quality Programs Manager. The incumbent will convey key requirements to internal and external parties. Verifies quality and inspection documentation, troubleshooting with customers. Works with shop personnel and management. Also works with various Engineering, Supply Chain, Document Control and Record departments within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Revise and maintain procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with regulatory, governing standards and customer requirements.

  • Maintain quality management system processes; vendor management control, document and record control.

  • Perform audits on production and quality processes for conformity to regulatory and customer requirements.

  • Develop process improvement plans using a variety of Quality and Continuous Process Improvement tools, including but not limited to, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, SPC, engineering studies, DOE, Gauge R&R, etc.

  • Support continuous product and process improvement through detailed failure analysis for non-conformances.

  • Ensure process compliance through the development of simple yet comprehensive procedures, work instructions, flowcharts, forms, templates, checklists, worksheets, and other product and process related documentation.

  • Provide training of quality requirements to production and support personnel.

  • Travel to vendor and customer sites for surveillance and audit activities.

  • Interpret design specs and documents to determine product conformance.

  • Facilitate problem solving teams.

  • Support various quality assurance programs and initiatives.

  • Support manufacturing shop.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Engineering degree or equivalent quality experience.

  • Ideally, minimum 4 years of related experience.

  • Ability to effectively interface with external suppliers, customers and regulatory representatives.

  • Strong experience with technical writing and documentation.

  • Working knowledge with quality systems (ISO 9001, CSA N299).

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with proven clear and succinct written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

    The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[74,000]] and $[[111,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
