Thompson Manufacturing Shipping & Receiving Supervisor in Cambridge, Minnesota
Job summary: Coordinates and engages in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties. Essential functions and Responsibilities: * Studies shipping schedules, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules. Coordinates with, and delegates to other associates as needed. * Coordinates with Production Supervisor daily regarding delivery schedule. * Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments, including customer returns, material, equipment and supplies, routes appropriately. * Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and compliance with customer instructions regarding packing, shipping, and labeling. This includes audit of order for part and quantity accuracy and pallet count. *Ensures all parts and packaging are in the right location and labeled properly * Prepares bills of lading, customs, and export documents for shipments. * Responsible for making arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order. *Tracks shipments and obtains proof of delivery when required. *Monitors and returns inventory of customer-owned returnable containers. *Creates computer generated reports relating to shipping and receiving daily. *Handle all aspects of record keeping with attention to detail and accuracy. *Communicates with customers, vendors, and employees in a professional manner at all times. *Arranges for pickup of scrap metal. * Maintains accurate inventory of finished goods, supplies, and raw material. * Responsible for always keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand * Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies Set-up and Maintenance Coordinator. *Studies, standardizes, and automates procedures to improve efficiency of department. *Manages, leads, and motivates Shipping, Receiving, and Material Handling personnel *Responsible for ensuring that the warehouse stays organized and orderly at all times * Operates forklift or hand truck to move, convey, or hoist materials. Other tasks at the request of management. Other duties may be assigned.
