Position Description
About the Wyss:
The Wyss Institute’s mission is to transform healthcare and the environment by emulating the way nature builds. We harness the imagination of academia and the focus of industry to translate ground-breaking technologies into commercial products that solve big problems. We support research that universities, companies, and venture capital firms don’t fund because they view it as too risky. We prefer to use the word “challenging,” and we love challenges. Role Description:
The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in the Molecular Robotics Initiative. The mission of the Wyss Institute is to discover the engineering principles that Nature uses to build living things, pursue the high-risk research that is fundamental to advance this effort and to harness these insights to create biologically inspired materials and devices to advance human health and improve the environment — thereby revolutionizing clinical medicine and creating a more sustainable world.
The Shih Laboratory explores design principles for self-assembling molecular machines. We seek outstanding postdoctoral applicants with expertise in immunology and/or biomolecular engineering to work with Institute faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff to develop an approach that will develop cytsolic delivery of RNA nanostructures for innate immunotherapeutic RIG -I activation.
Basic Qualifications
What you’ll Need:
Applicants are expected to hold a Ph.D. with an excellent track record of research involving immunology, therapeutics, and/or design and characterization of biomolecules.
The candidate should be open-minded, creative, energetic, and a critical thinker.
Additional Qualifications
Special Instructions
Applications should contain a complete resume, cover letter describing research interests and goals, full list of publications, copies of up to three relevant scientific papers, as well as the names and contact information of three references (expected to provide letters of recommendation).
