Insight Global Senior Data Engineering Advisor in Calgary, Alberta

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Senior Data Engineering Advisor to join one of Canada's largest Oil and gas companies in Calgary, Alberta. This is a 7-month hybrid contract with the resource expected in office 4 days a week, nonnegotiable. This resource will be joining the Data Engineering team which provides the capabilities, services, and governance to protect, deploy, and exploit value from the company's assets. With multiple major projects demanding workload, the selected resource will be backfilling a typical FTE workload focusing on operational activities within the Data Engineering team. Daily duties can span from triaging and fixing broken data pipelines to new development work on new data requests from the business. To succeed in this role you'll be experienced in everything from end-to-end data pipeline creation to modeling the data for business consumption. This team is looking for excellent communicators who can translate the business's needs into technical requirements while also being a passionate and positive team player.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer (or similar)

7+ Advanced SQL knowledge/experience,

7+ years of coding experience ideally with Python, R or PySpark

2+ years hands-on with Databricks

Ability to communicate with business and technical users GitHub (code control & branching)

Azure data factory

Data virtualization, Denodo

Databases Modeling

Oil & Gas Industry experience null
