Responsible for all leadership aspects of a team to ensure the safety and performance of all personnel within the team. Plan, schedule, and facilitate the day-to-day activities of the production operations with optimal use of resources. Ensure safety, quality, cost efficiency, on-time delivery and development goals are attained. Works to continually improve quality, production, and delivery performance.

Key responsibilities

Accountable for the safety, performance, and production of the employees on the shift.

Models BorgWarner Beliefs and enforces with employees

Supervises the escalation process

Ensures employees follow all work rules and procedures

Resolves work problems and employee disputes

Initiates corrective actions

Monitors and initiates disciplinary action

Lead for emergency situations.

Must become CPR and basic first aid certified

Contacts Management, Maintenance Coordinator, Safety Champion as needed

Safety and health - Responsible for ensuring monthly safety training/meetings are held for the shift; identify, report and correct any unsafe practices; working with safety champion implement corrective actions in a timely manner as appropriate; complete work activities in a safe manner and ensure all employees follow and comply with safety and health requirements for respective positions. Lead hazard analysis and incident investigation efforts. Complete safety training requirements as outlined by company.

Quality – Responsible for being aware of impact on product quality and the importance of activities in achieving, maintaining, and improving quality, including customer requirements and the risks involved for the customer with non-conforming product.

Coaches –Supports and mentors the development of back up for area and line leaders; leads through coaching and encouragement using BorgWarner Beliefs; drives continuous improvement initiatives and standard work implementation.

Staffing

  • Evaluate, maintain, and assign contract resources. Coordinate staffing needs and changes to Production Coordinator and Human Resources to adjust staffing to meet production requirements.

  • Determine and communicate overtime requirements, adjusting personnel as required.

  • Apprise affected personnel in the manufacturing organization of policies and decisions made by management; interpret procedures, directives, and reporting requirements.

  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems

  • Oversee the identifying and developing qualified employees within assigned production area; recommend personnel changes when warranted.

  • Conduct annual performance reviews for reporting employees.

  • Supervise and coordinate training; responsible for administrating the training plan for production employees, i.e. operator licensing, qualification requirements, monthly safety training, and quality training as necessary.

Responsible for meeting production requirements; monitoring output; meeting on-time delivery objectives. Compiles and reports detailed discrepancies to production requirements daily to Supervisor.

  • Communicates daily with all appropriate departments

  • Maintain a high level of communication with employees and other departments, coordinating the production and safety activities with the procedures, programs, and requirements of other functional areas.

  • Compile production data daily and sends shift reports

SAP (ERP System) tasks as required

Drives continuous improvement and facilitate thru-put improvement processes. Responsible for providing input to KPI metrics and reporting.

May be required to operate the hi-low for unloading trucks that arrive late, dump hoppers that cannot wait, or pull material as needed.

Interface with production scheduling/planning to ensure proper flow of material.

Must work overtime as required to meet production requirements.

We are looking for

2-3 years of experience leading or directing employees in a manufacturing environment required. Must meet technical, developmental, and behavior competency expectations.
