Description We are offering an opportunity to join our team in the transport industry, based in Burnham, Illinois, United States. The role is for a Staff Accountant, who will play a pivotal role in managing our financial records, including processing payroll, overseeing tax calculations, and ensuring the completion of end-of-year processes.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a technical point-of-contact for payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

• Oversee and manage calculations and entries related to garnishments, child support, tax levies, and leaves of absence.

• Coordinate and audit state setups and tax withholdings based on office, residence, and work location.

• Reconcile and supervise tax filings, including quarterly and annual filings.

• Manage cases in the payroll, tax, and treasury portals, ensuring all processes are followed correctly.

• Maintain HRIS payroll division and timekeeping systems, checking for accuracy and consistency.

• Ensure end-of-year processes are completed accurately and in a timely manner, including auditing of Form W2s and other tax documents.

• Resolve inquiries concerning account status and discrepancies, communicating resolutions to the appropriate parties.

• Create and maintain all payroll processes and procedures for training purposes.

• Participate in annual 401(k) audit as required.

• Perform ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, Full Cycle Payroll.

• Familiarity with UKG Pro, UltiPro, Payroll Taxes.

• Ability to perform quality work while meeting deadlines.

• Commitment to seeking opportunities for professional development. Requirements • Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes

• Demonstrated experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Solid understanding of General Ledger operations

• Ability to prepare and post Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Knowledge of Full Cycle Payroll process

• Familiarity with UKG Pro and UltiPro systems

• Experience managing Payroll Taxes

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the Transport industry

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is a plus.
