6 East is a 30-bed, blended acuity unit specializing in the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery patient populations. The unit is comprised of 6 Progressive Care beds and 24 telemetry beds. With a vision of healing hearts without skipping a beat, our team provides exceptional care to patients with a variety of cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular conditions. This population of patients includes pre and post CABG, Heart Valve surgery, Septal Myectomy, Aneurysm Repair, Thoracotomy, Femoral-Popliteal bypass and other acute cardiothoracic and vascular conditions. Our team includes a great group of Heathcare professionals committed to the delivery of safe, high-quality care to our patients.

6 East offers a unique pathway for those nurses who are interested in professional growth and progressing their career. Our unit has a close relationship with the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, and we prepare our nurses for a seamless transition into the intensive care setting, should this be the path they choose.

Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is now offering up to a $5,000 in signing bonuses for our Medical Surgical LPN Full Time and $3,000 Part Time positions.

Important Details:

• Signing Bonuses are paid out in three payments. You will receive your first payment (one third of the total amount) upon completion of the first 30 days of employment. You will receive the second payment upon completion of six (6) months and the third payment (final of the total amount) owe upon completion of one year following your start date. The bonus payments will be paid on the next regular pay day following the date on which you become eligible for the bonus. All payments are subject to applicable taxes.

• Full time status at LHMC is considered for the schedules greater than or equal to 30 hours per week; part-time is 20-29 hours per week. Roles less than Full-Time will be prorated. Please note, per diem employees are not eligible for the signing bonus.

To be eligible:

• Current and former BILH candidates - restrictions apply. Employees within the BILH system are not eligible for the bonus or if you have been employed by a BILH entity within the last 12-months.

• If you leave Lahey Hospital & Medical Center before your first anniversary you will pay back the signing bonus.

• Please note, signing bonuses are subject to change based on the organizations hiring needs and will be determined by Talent Acquisition on an ongoing basis. BILH/LHMC Talent Acquisition reserves the right to change signing bonus eligible jobs and amounts at any time.

Job Description:

Education: Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration

  • BLS

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Clinical Skills/Technical Knowledge

Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures. See Skill Record or Competency Checklist Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Lifting 75 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs 

Experience: Preferably six months of clinical experience in inpatient, outpatient, or long-term facilities
