Primary Hall Preparatory Charter School (PHPCS) was founded to provide the students and families on the East Side of Buffalo access to quality education. Our school provides tailored foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and character development that will equip all of our students for academic and personal success throughout their educational careers and beyond.

Job Summary

A Technology Teacher with Primary Hall is re sponsible for delivering engaging technology education to students in grades K-5. This role involves designing age-appropriate curriculum, instructing students in various technology concepts and skills, and integrating technology into the broader educational program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and education, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to inspire and support young learners. You are charged with helping grow the school's curriculum, develop innovative instructional techniques, and accelerate learning for students so they are prepared for college-preparatory curricula. With a team of like-minded educators, you will be supported to provide high quality instruction and grow as a teacher and leader.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.

  • Develop lesson plans aligned to NYS standards.

  • Plan and sequence lessons to progressively build students' technology skills.

  • Develop and implement a technology curriculum that aligns with educational standards and the goals of the school.

  • Plan and organize lessons to cover various aspects of technology education, including theory, history, and performance.

  • Teach knowledge and skills in technology.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate technology into other subject areas and enhance overall learning.

  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students of different skill levels and interests.

  • Provide for the care and protection of school property.

  • Promote digital literacy and responsibility use of technology among students.

  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

  • Prepare classroom for class activities.

  • Identify and utilize different instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress.

  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

  • Establish and enforce discipline and safety rules to ensure a secure and focused learning atmosphere.

  • Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in educational technology.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities and share knowledge with colleagues.

  • Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to plan and successfully execute events.

  • Provide for the care and protection of school property.

  • Use relevant technology to support instruction.

  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development.

  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments as appropriate.

  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.

  • Monitor and encourage individual student progress.

  • Provide necessary technology instructions to students which will promote educational development.

  • Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.

  • Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules and procedures and enforcing classroom, school rules and procedures.

  • Cooperate with and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the total school program.

  • Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.

  • Implements techniques in the classroom that have been learned during coaching meetings, Professional Development sessions, or in-the-moment feedback opportunities.

  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree at the time of employment (minimum average GPA of 2.75)

  • New York State teaching certification or licensure.

  • 2 years teaching in an urban public school (traditional or charter) preferred but not required

  • Previous technology teaching experience is preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work with students of different ages and skill levels.

  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for music education.

Working Conditions

Classroom and Office setting, the noise level in the work environment(s) is relatively quiet.

Cognitive and Physical Demands

  • Daily/consistent: Standing, sitting, computer work, screen time, keyboarding, typing, wrist flexing/extension and other repetitive movements and lifting (up to 20 pounds).

  • Daily/consistent: Use of professional judgement in alignment with Primary Hall values and policies, ability to communicate effectively verbally and written, and to complete projects with minimal assistance and supervision.

Starting Salary: $50,000 for certified teachers

Employment Contract Information

The position of Technology Teacher will require a 11-month Employment Contract entered into between Primary Hall Preparatory Charter School (PHPCS) (Employer) and the (Employee) hired for the position of Technology Teacher . The (Employee) will receive a written contract at the start of their employment which will contain the terms and conditions of this role.
