Position Summary:
As a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Physics (https://arts-sciences.buffalo.edu/physics.html) , this position will support the research program of Profs. Peihong Zhang and Xuedong Hu. Projects will focus on understanding material physics that affect the performance of semiconductor quantum dots based spin qubits. The candidate will work closely with both supervisors, other postdocs, graduate students, and with our experimental collaborators.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Work with our experimental collaborators to identify materials physics that are relevant to the performance of spin qubits
Carry out first-principles electronic structure calculations and modeling
Prepare reports, presentations and manuscripts
Assist the PIs with supervising junior graduate students

Minimum Qualifications:
The candidates should have a Ph.D degree in condensed matter physics (or a related field) and have demonstrated original contributions to the field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Priority will be given to candidates with experience in first-principles electronic structure theory (especially large-scale computation of complex materials and structures) and spin qubit physics in semiconductor quantum dots.
