We are currently recruiting a Part Time Dental Assistant- Floater for our Premier Healthcare Clinics.
Premier is unique in its quality of medical, dental, mental health, rehabilitation, and specialty care provided to people with disabilities and their families. With medical professionals and physicians affiliated with major hospitals in the New York metropolitan area, Premier has wheelchair accessible practices located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens.
Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Serve as dentist’s chair-side assistant
Prepare operatory for patient treatment
Develop dental radiographs and performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by the dentist in accordance with state regulations and law
Maintain dental department equipment and work areas in compliance with health center policies and procedures relative to infection control and safety issues, including the sterilization of all reusable dental instruments and equipment and the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials
Maintain adequate operatory supplies and compiles a list for inventory control and ordering purposes
Assist with various clinical and administrative functions of the center as appropriate and as time permits
Be cognizant of the expectations and concerns of the health center’s dental patients and be able to respond in an empathetic and professional manner
Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities ( e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)
Education requirements - certified/registered Dental Assistant
Preferred Qualification Requirements ( desired requirements beyond MQRs above )
Experience - preferred, but not required (we can definitely work with someone who wants to learn)
Payrate: $20.00/hr.

Our Roots:
YAI was launched in February of 1957 out of a small school in Brooklyn, New York. Initially staffed by Co-Founders Bert MacLeech and Pearl Maze MacLeech alone, their pilot program served just seven people. According to Bert, from its very beginning YAI has been dedicated to providing innovative services for the I/DD (intellectual and/or developmental disabilities) community. MacLeech envisioned a, “total life adjustment approach, emphasizing personal growth, social responsibility, employment goals, and the development of independence for the individual.” At a time when institutional living was the norm for people with I/DD, this vision was nothing short of revolutionary.
YAI Today:
Today, YAI has a team of over 4,000 employees and supports over 20,000 people in the I/DD community. This extraordinary growth shows the ongoing need for these important services, and YAI’s success in offering them. YAI supports people with autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. Operating throughout Downstate New York and Northern New Jersey, YAI now offers more than 300 programs for people of all ages.
