POSITION DETAILS

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering 58 associate and baccalaureate degrees in technology and health related degree programs, other career-oriented degrees, and liberal arts transfer degrees in its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Technology and Design, and Professional Studies.

CUNY’s Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) and Accelerate, Complete, Engage (ACE) are graduation and retention programs offered at twelve CUNY colleges. These programs help students to stay on track and graduate by providing a range of financial, academic, and personal supports, including personalized advisement, career counseling, tutoring, waivers for tuition and additional financial assistance to cover the cost of textbooks.

At City Tech, ASAP and ACE serve over 1000 students across 20 associate and baccalaureate programs, concentrating primarily on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) majors. Consisting of 20 full-time staff members, the ASAP and ACE team at City Tech provides holistic and comprehensive services to its students and work with departments across campus to support student engagement and retention, thus ensuring timely degree completion and post-graduation success.

Reporting to the ASAP|ACE Program Director, the Assistant Director of Recruitment will design and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan to meet the recruitment targets of the ASAP and ACE programs. They will also assist with ensuring the continued pipeline between ASAP and Math Start students, which is a CUNY initiative that helps students increase their understanding of math, prepare for college-level coursework and meet CUNY’s math proficiency milestone. The Assistant Director will coordinate workshops, intake screenings, and orientation sessions for prospective students in collaboration with Enrollment Management, the ASAP|ACE Program Director, the Math Start Program Coordinator and other members of the ASAP and ACE team. Additionally, the Assistant Director will perform duties including but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the ASAP|ACE Central Office, ASAP|ACE Program Director and Math Start Program Coordinator to strategize and define annual objectives.

  • Work closely with the college’s Enrollment Management department and marketing and communications teams to ensure alignment with all recruitment activities.

  • Spearhead all recruitment and subsequent related activities, including responding to students via our official recruiting email, managing and maintaining updated administrative recruitment guidance, monitoring and updating Central’s recruiting and reporting documents, and preparing reports and proposals regarding recruitment and outreach activities for the Central Office and Program Director.

  • Vet and assess applicants’ eligibility based on program requirements for ASAP, ACE and Math Start.

  • Collaborate with the ASAP Associate Director of Advisement, ASAP|ACE Program Director, Math Start Program Coordinator, and advisement team to organize information and pre-advisement sessions.

  • Work closely with ASAP’s Financial Aid Specialist to verify and confirm applicants’ FASFA, TAP, and overall financial aid standing.

  • Supervise and assist the ASAP Recruitment Coordinator and Student Ambassadors with recruitment, training, and other aspects of the onboarding process for student workers.

  • Represent ASAP, ACE and Math Start at both internal and external meetings and conferences, and conduct presentations regarding these programs at college access events and informational sessions.

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with CUNY pre-matriculation programs, high schools, GED programs, and college advisors with the goal of strengthening recruiting avenues.

  • Work with ASAP advisors to identify ACE-eligible ASAP students, and create targeted outreach campaigns to potential students via postcard mailing, emailing, and mass texting.

  • Manage student follow-up tasks related to enrollment, such as submission of vaccination records, proof of residency, and high school diplomas.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and four years related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline.

  • Familiarity with general recruitment processes and a minimum of one year of recruitment experience is strongly preferred. Experience with pre-enrollment advising is a plus.

  • Student-focused, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing a diverse student body.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build consensus in order to achieve goals and benchmarks.

  • Strong organizational, project management, and facilitation skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and aptitude to learn new systems as needed.

  • Strong ability to communicate program requirements effectively to students.

  • Understanding of the financial aid process.

  • Familiarity with using social media to engage students.

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) helps students earn their college degree as quickly as possible, by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that many students confront. Key ASAP program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, required full-time study and comprehensive advisement and career development services. The ASAP Recruitment Specialist is a member of an integrated college team and has the major responsibility to lead the program's recruitment efforts.

  • Organize pre-admission advisement and cohort recruitment for all ASAP applicants

  • Lead ASAP recruitment activities

  • Develop and conduct information sessions and intake appointments with prospective students

  • Conduct site visits to area high schools and GED programs

  • Present on ASAP at external college access events and conferences

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with CUNY pre-matriculation programs

  • Oversee ASAP student leaders and their integration into recruitment activities

  • Perform related duties as assigned

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$68,004 - $79,188. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
