Reference #: 4538339 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is actively seeking a talented Engineering Technician to join our team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The responsibilities of this position include assisting in the setup, operation, adjustment, and maintenance of survey instruments, as well as establishing centerlines, measuring angles, and verifying alignments of structures. Additionally, tasks involve staking out tangents, curve stations, and reference control points. The role also entails using a level to determine ground elevations, set benchmarks, and calculate grades on roads. Operating theodolites, electronic distance measuring equipment, total stations, data collectors, portable computers, and telecommunications devices is part of the job. Utilizing various Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and techniques to establish mapping and survey grade point locations is essential. Other duties include performing trigonometric and algebraic calculations, creating field sketches and notes, and reviewing the work of colleagues. Furthermore, assisting with survey team tasks such as operating automatic levels, transits, data collectors, total stations, prisms, chains, and rods using traditional and electronic tools is required. Making on-site decisions regarding the location and documentation of traverse and topography points is also part of the role.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position will be a member of a Survey Field Crew. Candidate will report to maintenance sheds to join up in the Survey Crew Truck to travel to job sites. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
