Transylvania Vocational Services Sanitation Technician in Brevard, North Carolina

  • This position is a night-shift position working Monday-Thursday 7:30pm-6:00am with a $2.00 shift differential**

    OBJECTIVES: Perform the activities related to sanitation needs concerning, food safety, quality, cost objectives, and production goals

    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Performs sanitation tasks efficiently, in assigned contract areas including, but not limited to, cleaning, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing machine surfaces, pipes, ducts, floors, walls, ceilings, and furniture.

    • Performs production tasks, as assigned, including, but not limited to, palletizing and depalletizing, case packing, case sealing, blending, bag hook up, rework, production related sanitation tasks, inspections, and hand assembly.

    • Able to work with cleaning chemicals after taking a chemical training class for certification.

    • Ability to do wet cleanings of production lines/rooms with the proper PPE to ensure safety and getting wet.

    • Ability to maintain speed or pace depending on production needs.

    • Maintain compliance with GMP’s and hygiene standards.

    • Ability to comprehend instructions, verbal and written, and accept feedback.

    • Ability to work independently as direct or constant supervision may not be available.

    • Ability to work in multiple areas within the facility, as assigned.

    • Follow safety policies, procedures, and practices.

    • Effectively communicate sanitation needs, concerns, or suggestions such as foreign material, food safety, and material integrity issues with appropriate peers and/or sanitation supervisor

    • Effectively communicate production needs, such as material requests, quality defects, foreign material, or food safety issues to appropriate peers and/or area supervisor.

    • Solid working knowledge of all applicable documents, procedures, checklists, and work instructions related to this title’s responsibilities.

    • Ability to stand for an entire shift, lift, twist, bend, reach, stoop, push, and carry up to 15 pounds.

    • Posses’ visual acuity to assess quality standards and material integrity.

    • Some sanitation or production tasks may require the ability to lift and carry 60 pounds, work at heights above ground level, perform functions that require manual dexterity, ability to read, write, and posses basic math skills, comprehension of weights and weight calculations, percentages, number sequences, and distinguish between color codes.

    • Abide by the guidelines set forth in the TVS’ employee handbook.

    • Ability to keep work area clean and organized.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • satisfactory completion of Vocational Rehabilitation Program

    • High School diploma/GED

    • comparable work experience or

    • at the discretion of a qualified TVS representative
