Summary:

The position of Counter Sales / Warehouse Associate is responsible for the orderly and efficient operation of the warehouse, accurate shipping and receiving of merchandise, and daily delivery process. They may drive sales by communicating daily with top customers to ensure immediate items are delivered the same day. They wait on customers, ensuring a positive customer experience. They are responsible for the daily procedures at the beginning of the day and as needed throughout the day to maintain a clean and organized PC.

Reports to: Operations Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

+ + High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Be a self starter with the ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Experience in Adobe Acrobat a plus.

  • Knowledge of electrical products and their functions preferred.

  • Math skills that include calculating percentages, decimals (.1, .01, .001) and discount multipliers.

  • Ability to comprehend, read, and to communicate the English language orally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to effectively proof documents for errors and proper completion.

  • Ability to operate office equipment including but not limited to computer, printer, copier, fax machine, scanner, and ten-key calculator.

  • Ability to pull stock from, and to stock, conduit racks in warehouse or yard.

  • Ability to coordinate all orders and delivery schedules. Ability to read a map and plan the routing of delivery trucks.

  • Ability to deliver, or pick up, merchandise to, or from, our customers and suppliers in a prompt, efficient and professional manner.

  • Ability to load and unload trucks from ground level or platform.

  • Ability to easily move about job (construction) sites including uneven, rocky terrain.

  • Ability to manually lift heavy boxes (minimum of 70 lbs.) of stock from shelves in warehouse, including reaching, lifting overhead, stooping down, crouching and climbing ladders.

  • Ability to safely operate materials handling equipment (forklift, pallet jacks, etc.) and wire measuring equipment.

  • Ability to work entire shift in extreme heat or cold.

  • Ability to work entire shift on concrete or other hard floor surface.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and have a driving record that meets the company standards.

Working Conditions:

Warehouse environment and outdoor conditions including sometimes extreme hot/cold temperatures and uneven, rocky terrain.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Wait on customers arriving at the counter and on the phone ensuring a positive customer experience.

  • Process sales in accordance with appropriate SPI / standard operating procedure.

  • Wait on customers who pick up merchandise, both charge and cash/credit card sales, and maintain will-call hold section.

  • Create Sales Register and provide the customer with the product. Pull material off the shelf. Fill the order.

  • Keep the counter area and displays clean and neat at all times and assist in maintaining the entire location in a clean and orderly fashion.

  • Assist with special orders.

  • Forward quote requests to PC Manager.

  • Assist junior teammates sharing knowledge and expertise.

  • Responsible for orderly, efficient warehouse operations.

  • Receive all merchandise shipped to the Profit Center by vendors, customers or other Profit Centers.

  • Ship material from the warehouse; arrange for all deliveries (our truck, common carrier, UPS), and determine the most cost-effective shipping method.

  • Deliver, or pick up, merchandise to, or from, our customers and suppliers in a prompt, efficient and professional manner.

  • Call top customers daily and pull orders to include in daily delivery.

  • Advise the PC Manager of any mechanical problems with the Company truck.

  • Responsible for daily procedures at the beginning of the day and as needed throughout the day to maintain a clean and organized PC.
