About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Regional Sales Manager Distribution, the Field Sales Associate - Central will promote and sell Barry Callebaut Chocolate, Cocoa and Specialty products and services within the Central Provinces in Canada. The Field Sales-Central Will be working closely with our indirect customers that are service through our Bakery and Foods Service distribution channels with in the defined Province. Primary end users; Chefs, Ambassadors, hotels, fine and casual dining, independent and national chains, catering companies, fine pastry shops, ice cream shops, bakeries and confectioners. This role is a remote working opportunity with preference given to those living in Ontario.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for promoting and supporting the growth in achieving Gourmet Sales through our distribution partners.

  • Long Term relationship building with indirect customers, analyzing and monitoring their needs to provide the commercial value proposition. This includes documenting business in Sales Force and other commercial initiatives of Barry Callebuat.

  • Support and assist in development and planning of sales strategies, sales forecasts, customer service strategies, including execution of channel promotions and incentives according to the definitions of the marketing plan, and digital marketing’s.

  • Pull Strategies: Coordinating with the marketing to execute activities that promote consumption in end user customers and through distributors (Delivery of promotional items, point-of-sale activations, relationships tactics with end-users, etc.)

  • Core Basket strategies. Implementing the tracking and implementation through indirect customer and distributor accounts through the execution of the Winning portfolio for Canada and Core Basket by segment. Promoting through the various segments the right portfolio for the end user business.

  • Distributor development program. Assisting and align annual objectives, joint projects, building blocks, activity grids, as part of the Gourmet Canada value proposition (way of working).

  • Promotion of sales tools with clients/distributors related to the commercial partners platform, synergies with the Chocolate Academy, etc.

  • Deep knowledge of End-users and segments. Promoting a balanced, regional, and multi-segmented business acquisition approach, identifying priority End-users.

  • Work closely with culinary schools, influencers, partner organizations.

  • Work with the Senior Sales Manager and Barry Callebaut's Marketing & Chocolate Academy teams to organize demos, trade shows, Chef Events, and all marketing activities happening in Ontario. Some exceptions may apply when supporting marketing events in other regions.

  • Daily duties will be to pursue sales leads, visit existing and new potential customers, respond to customer inquiries, assess customer needs, and to suggest appropriate products, services and distributors. Additionally, the Individual should regularly set up joint customer visits with the distributor’s sales force. In some instances, the Field Sales will negotiate prices and delivery times, within limits of authority, and conclude sales orders to meet revenue targets.

  • Identify, research, and contact prospective customers to build positive relationships that will generate sustainable existing and future sales.

  • Refer sales leads, customer feedback, and information on market intelligence activity to appropriate contacts within Barry Callebaut so that they can respond to changing market conditions and customer demands.

  • Performs other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

    About you:

  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Hospitality Industry, Food Science or similar.

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience in the food industry.

  • Experienced salesperson in selling food ingredients for bakeries, pastry shops, chocolatiers, dairy, confectionery, and large food processing companies in Mexico; knowledge of the Food Service industry.

  • Experience in managing distributor channels.

  • Proven track record in sales and business, strong negotiation skills with a history of high-impact sales in terms of revenue and volume.

  • Ability in planning and generating sales analysis, sales projections.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all business partners.

  • Goal-oriented with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to interact with a variety of internal and external clients.

  • Sales philosophy focused on service and added value, not just ingredients/transactional sales.

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite and Google.

  • English – fluent.

  • Preference given to those residing in Ontario.

  • Ability to travel intra-provincial and extra-provincial, as needed: requires 50%.
