Job Description The Project Manager II directs and manages the processes and activities of projects that carry medium risk and financial impact. Project development may be guided with the assistance of the senior department staff. The Project Manager II manages and executes projects with a clearly defined scope of work, which may involve multiple internal customers or departments, as well as external customers. This person coordinates and communicates tasks with other departments such as Engineering, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting, System Planning, and Energy Resources. This individual may draft medium complexity contracts, monitor contracts and contractors. Additionally, the Project Manager II supports construction-related activities of infrastructure installation or replacement. This individual upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities, as well as promotes and supports a culture of total safety. The individual in this role demonstrates a commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Additionally, they ensure duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations. This job is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites. Job Responsibilities Lead multi-disciplinary project teams. Responsible for schedule and budget development, management, and forecasting. Coordinate resources and provide oversight and direction to team members. Perform effective upfront project planning and advocacy of PSE's operational objectives to minimize costs and change orders, identify risks, and maximize efficiency through negotiation and conflict resolution. Identify the scope of an assigned project and decide logical action to meet projected requirements and deadlines. Communicate and manage the customer relationship as the primary point of contact. Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences, sometimes in public settings. Accurately identify customer needs, set reasonable expectations, identify potential issues and share alternative solutions. Recognize technical issues that impact the projects under their leadership and develop plans to mitigate risks. Facilitate communication between service providers and internal customers, which may include technical support at the direction of a senior project manager. Respond to customer concerns and work with appropriate parties for resolution. Facilitate technical assistance to internal and external customers. Ensure compliance with codes, standards, design criteria, operation, and maintenance requirements. Apply general rules, standards, and guidelines to specific technical problems. Projects may involve new construction, upgrades, uprates and modifications of the electric distribution and transmission system; substations Projects also include the addition of new generation facilities, modifications, and upgrades to existing facilities. Collaborate with internal departments, service providers, and external entities to coordinate construction schedules and obtain appropriate resources. Support construction activities related to projects. Report on project and program progress as directed. G
