Actalent Senior Research Contract Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Description

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Contracting in the Clinical Trials Office (CTO), the Senior Contracting Specialist will work with investigators, clinical trial coordinators, foundation and industry sponsors, and contract research organizations to negotiate clinical research agreements in accordance with institutional policies. This role involves providing orientation, training, and mentoring to CTO clinical research agreement associates, conducting and coordinating peer-review and quality assurance activities within CTO, and facilitating interactions with CTO and the Technology Ventures Office (TVO) and the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) regarding issues and agreements that overlap with CTO expertise. The incumbent will represent the institution to foundation and industry sponsors and will be primarily responsible for reviewing and negotiating Clinical Trial Agreements, Foundation Grants for clinical research, Clinical Research Support Agreements, Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Amendments, Master Agreements, and other Non-Funded Industry Agreements related to human subject research studies. Responsibilities also include assessing each agreement for compliance with institutional policy, and applicable Federal and State Laws, focusing on areas such as indemnification, subject injury, HIPAA, confidentiality, publication, funding terms, intellectual property rights, insurance, termination, arbitration, and other requirements. The role requires close collaboration with the Associate Director of the Clinical Trials Office, General Counsel, members of the Office of Business Conduct, and others. Additionally, responsibilities include maintaining an institutional database regarding contracts and contractual issues and working with clinical trials financial analysts as needed to complete the work of the CTO.

Hard Skills

  • 1-3 years related work experience in research administration, pre-award and post-award management of grants and contracts

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications

Soft Skills

  • Ability to work with a varied caseload with minimal supervision

  • Strong judgment and ability to apply legal principles and Medical Center policies to specific legal issues

  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team

  • Strong organization and time management skills

  • Ability to multi-task while remaining detail-oriented in a highly time sensitive environment

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment

100% Remote but you must reside in MA, NH, RI, CT, or VT
