The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Architect, to join the Public Sector Security Architecture and Engineering team, to lead and drive the network architecture strategy in support of the Department of the Interior (DOI).
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and optimizing complex systems, developing business application prototypes, and addressing system design challenges with a strategic and forward-thinking approach.
You will work closely with Customer, Program Management and Operations teams, driving innovation in network design, optimization, and security. As a recognized expert in enterprise security architecture, you will bring deep technical acumen in Fortinet FortiGate and Cisco firewall appliances and security solutions.

This is a Work From Home position available from any US-based location.
The Main Responsibilities
Design a complete and complex framework, system, or product in support of the DOI network optimization and transformation effort - from technical roadmap to architecture designs.
Help identify the development scope and lead the technical architecture development in support of customer requirements and technology transformation initiatives
Drive the implementation through engineering, test, and operations handoff. Lead architectural approval, project coordination and security certification processes.
Responsible for generating high quality technical documentation, drawings and network topology maps and configuration guides to support architecture and solution designs, with the ability to articulate and convey concepts and details to all levels of recipients.
Technical and policy resource to the LUMEN Federal Sales team relating to product opportunities, customer dialogue opportunities, and cyber capability discussions.
Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses.
Assist Managed Network Services, identify EOL, EOS, and security vulnerabilities across multiple vendors and platforms.
Develop partnerships with key equipment suppliers. Communicate requirements, guidance, and vision to the vendor community to develop, implement and support security solutions
What We Look For in a Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information systems or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience in integrated security architectures development and cloud technologies, or
Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience
Experience developing technical solutions to meet the OMB mandates, security standards and principles, CISA and GSA compliance requirements - while maintaining balance between functionality, performance, scalability and reliability
Experience in architecting the service provider-grade security infrastructure – with specific focus on Integrated network architectures, complex systems and frameworks to support network optimization and transformation efforts.
Proficient with security tools and concepts such as firewalls, vulnerability scanning and management, multi-factor authentication, intrusion detection and prevention, Anti-Virus, Email and Messaging security, endpoint security, mobility management, SIEM
Must be familiar with Federal security requirements, including FISMA, DCID, NIST policy frameworks and FedRAMP compliance standards
Advanced expertise in Fortinet FortiGate, including FortiOS, high availability (HA) clustering, next-generation firewall (NGFW) features, IPS/IDS, SD-WAN, SSL/TLS inspection, deep packet inspection (DPI), and FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer integration.
Comprehensive proficiency in Cisco security technologies, including ASA, Firepower NGFW, Firepower Management Center (FMC), advanced threat detection, intrusion prevention (IPS), AnyConnect VPN, and zero-trust security architectures.
Strong expertise in routing protocols, BGP, traffic engineering, ROIP, IPv6, and SD-WAN, with a track record of managing network services, optimization, stability, performance and lifecycle management.
Willingness to travel quarterly to Washington, DC for customer business reviews.
Must possess a public trust suitability clearance.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
$136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
