As a Dry Etch Process Development Engineer in the Technology Development group at Micron Technology, Inc., you will design and optimize plasma etch processes for Micron's leading-edge DRAM and NAND/NVM Flash products. You will take ideas from conception, through process development, and finally implementation in our production facilities. As such, you may be required to travel to Micron’s manufacturing sites. Your primary areas of responsibility include plasma dry etch process design, characterization, and optimization, maintaining a pilot manufacturing line, and fundamental research.

The Technology Development group at Micron is a highly collaborative environment. Dry Etch Process Development Engineers will interact with other process and equipment development engineers, and groups such as process integration, electrical failure analysis, yield enhancement, and equipment vendors to develop robust etch processes that meet the physical and electrical requirements of Micron’s products.

This position requires that you have a strong aptitude for engineering and innovation, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. Your responsibilities will include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Designing innovative plasma etch processes to meet the physical and electrical requirements of Micron’s products.

  • Developing and optimizing plasma etch processes to reduce cost, process variability, and improve process capability.

  • Collaborating with process integration and other cross-functional teams to develop innovative new solutions.

  • Conducting root cause and failure mode analysis to understand the limitations of current hardware and driving vendors for solutions.

  • Performing fundamental research to drive innovative solutions for next-generation products.

  • Maintaining a technology development pilot manufacturing line.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in experimental design and data analysis.

  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to use extensive technical knowledge to guide strategic directions.

  • Ability to resolve complex issues through process development.

  • Proficiency in statistics, preferably in statistical process control.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently.

  • Experience in programming or scripting.

  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing, solid-state device physics, and of dry etch processing or plasma physics is desirable.

Education & Experience:

  • M.S./Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign education) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or other related technical disciplines.

  • B.S. degree with minimum 5 years’ experience in Semiconductor Process Engineering will also be considered.
