The department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Clinical Research Coordinator 1 to work at UHealth in Boca Raton. The Clinical Research Coordinator 1 will work as part of a team to initiate and manage research studies in the most optimal fashion. The Research Coordinator will work with the Data Core team to assist with data quality assurance and data cleaning. Ensure the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPPA and required obligations to patient/subject, Principal Investigator, research team and the sponsor. The Research Coordinator will directly interface with patients/subjects, research participants, and the Principal Investigator in support of the clinical research studies.

  • Work closely with the Director as part of an interprofessional, transdisciplinary team to provide outstanding, comprehensive clinical care

  • Conduct rating scales for clinical studies

  • Help schedule research participants for visits and follow-up calls

  • Assisting in the development of recruitment strategies and promotional materials as well as the screening of potential patients/subjects for eligibility to the study.

  • Data Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Conduct thorough QA/QC on research data to identify and correct any discrepancies, such as data entry or transcription errors.

  • Ensure that all research data adheres to established standards and protocols before it is used for analysis.

  • Regularly review data collection methodologies to recommend improvements that enhance data quality.

  • Data Cleaning and Preparation:

  • Utilize Python programming to automate and streamline the cleaning and preparation of research data.

  • Develop and maintain scripts to efficiently process large datasets, ensuring they are analysis-ready.

  • Collaborate with research teams to understand data needs and implement appropriate data cleaning solutions.

  • Perform manual data entry from paper records where necessary

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document all QA/QC processes and maintain records of data issues and resolutions.

  • Prepare reports summarizing data quality findings and the status of datasets.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders about data quality metrics and improvement strategies.

  • Demonstrates critical judgment to maintain the integrity of the research protocol without compromising patient safety.

  • Demonstrates appropriate skills relating to the execution of research protocols, such as determining eligibility, exclusion criteria, identifying need for modifications and adverse responses.

  • Creates and maintains participant charts and coordinates participant appointments. Collects, organizes and maintains source documentation.

  • Ensures protocol is being followed as approved by the IRB.

  • Participates in research activities by assisting in the collection of data, initiating research under supervision as appropriate.

  • Interacts with patient/subject and families in a courteous and professional manner. Be consistent and regularly follow through with your patients/subjects reminding them of visits and compliance. Extend this courteous and professional manner to faculty and staff within the College of Medicine.

  • Performs other work-related duties and complete projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an appropriate area of specialization

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

  • Previous experience in coordinating NIH or industry-sponsored clinical research is required.

  • Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRP) certification preferred.

  • Valid Driver’s license required

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, techniques and practices and their application to clinical care and research.

  • Considerable knowledge of scientific method.

  • Experience in working with elderly population.

  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills. Experience in working with diverse populations. Must be able to work and make decisions independently.

  • Proficiency in Python, particularly with libraries such as Pandas and NumPy, for data manipulation and cleaning.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify data inconsistencies and abnormalities.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to achieving high standards of data quality

  • Fluency in Spanish is desirable, but not required

  • Proficiency in phlebotomy is desirable, but not required
