The Cigna Group Software Engineering Senior Advisor - Evernorth Health Services in Bloomington, Minnesota

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure stability, performance and availability of mainframe systems by troubleshooting issues, implementing solutions, and collaborating with cross functional teams

  • Technologies span mainframe, midrange, desktop, server, network data, voice, messaging, web, and database

  • Provide support, proactive system health management, test data management and maintenance for mainframe systems, including z/OS, JCL, COBOL, DB2, CICS and VSAM

  • Monitor Mainframe performance and capacity utilization proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal system performance and high availability

  • Collaborate with application developers , system programmers, and other IT teams to diagnose and resolve complex application or environment issues

  • Ability to think outside of the box to simplify the current environment for better manageability and support

  • Actively participate and implement architectural changes, design and implementation of solutions to meet enterprise goals

  • Flexibility to adopt a continuous learning mindset and flex to cover a diverse set of technology needs and professional development aspects

  • Continuously drive improvement and optimization through retrospectives and stakeholder feedback

  • Proactively identify and develop training plans for knowledge gaps (technical or business-related) that limit team effectiveness

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including system diagrams, standard operating procedures and trouble shooting guides

  • Implement the use of effective change, incident, and problem management governance policies across all supported environments

  • Should have an automation first and continuous improvement mindset

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information technology or related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to openly discuss solution proposals

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues

  • 10+ years of experience with Mainframe technologies such as z/OS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, MQ, CA7, REXX and DB2 Utilities

  • Experience with mainframe utilities and tools used for monitoring, debugging, and performance tuning

  • Experience with IW Teradata platform

  • Knowledge of Mainframes security principles, access controls, and compliance requirements (e,g: HIPAA, PHI, IHI) to ensure system integrity and data protection

  • Technical skills to craft and execute your own programs and initiatives

  • Experience with the microservices hosted on cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Openshift, etc)

  • Knowledge of SDLC processes, including agile methodologies (Scrum & Kanban).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced , dynamic environment

  • Flexibility to participate and respond to critical Incidents outside of regular business hours

  • Strong commitment to quality, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction

  • Understanding of ITIL Processes to implement change, resolve incidents and implement preventative measures

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in HealthCare business

  • Understanding of Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server, PostgresSQL and distributed technologies such as API/Entity flow

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, NewRelic, etc and different monitoring aspects

  • Understanding Queue/Messaging services
