This position will be located in either the St. Paul, Rochester or Mankato office and may have the option to telework.
This position exists to provide supervision and technical direction for the Monitoring and Assessment Section so that: groundwater, surface water and edge-of-field monitoring for pesticides and nutrients; analysis and reporting of monitoring data; and, related activities, are conducted in a timely and technically sound manner consistent with enabling statutes and management instructions.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Water Resources Management, Environmental Science or a closely related field AND three (3) years of experience as a hydrologist or hydrogeologist which includes work on the design, installation and operation of water monitoring equipment.
Supervisory or lead worker experience directing the work of professional level employees.
Advanced specialized knowledge of surface water, groundwater and weather monitoring equipment and methodology, monitoring system design, sample collection, quality control and assurance, and data analytics.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Good organizational, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record subject to review. This position requires travel throughout the state of MN.

Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as a professional geologist (geoscientist) by the State of Minnesota or licensure as a professional geologist or hydrologist by another state or suitable national professional organization and eligibility for licensure in Minnesota.
An advanced degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Water Science or a closely related field.
Extensive coursework in hydrogeology, hydrology, contaminant fate and transport, computer modeling, environmental chemistry and statistics.
Direct experience, including farming experience, or significant training in the use and management of pesticides or inorganic fertilizers in an agricultural setting.
Practical experience developing and managing an electronic data management system.
Two (2) or more years of experience managing projects and budgets.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent must be able to independently collect samples from remote monitoring locations in any season over rough, rocky, muddy and overgrown terrain. This requires driving and hiking to remote locations, manually bailing wells, collecting samples and carrying them to a vehicle, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Additional Requirements
