SAN JUAN FOUNDATION, THE Gear Up Youth Advisor in BLANDING, Utah

Five (5) Gear Up Youth Advisor needed in Blanding, Utah. 

GEAR UP Advisor- Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness of Undergraduate Program at San Juan High School, Monticello High School, Monument Valley High School and Navajo Mountain High School

Salary Range: $15.00-$16.73 per hour (depending on qualifications)

Options: 35 hours at SJHS, 15 hours per week at MHS, 35 hours per week at MVHS, 10 hours a week at NMHS GEAR UP is a college readiness program that provides tutoring helps and prepares students to successfully graduate from middle and high school and prepare for college. GEAR UP is an acronym for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the close to general supervision of the San Juan Foundation Program Director and GEAR UP Program Coordinator, the Principal, Vice Principal and the school counselor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Need to have excellent organizational, leadership and people skills, which will be necessary to build and maintain a strong relationship with students at the school. Must be able to work well with youth and be self-motivated and trustworthy. Must be able to travel to trainings and conferences on a state and possibly national level. Must complete the GEAR UP training videos within 2 weeks of becoming employed and ongoing professional development and training on. Job position will also require administration of surveys and cost share forms and the collection of various other information such as student grades and attendance. Must have a working knowledge of the community and it's support services, such as the schools and colleges. Must have a working knowledge of how to support family and student relations. Must have a working knowledge of how to organize and schedule trips, activities, speakers and events.

SERVICES PROVIDED: Homework help & tutoring, career exploration, parent workshops on college preparedness and financing, scholarship searches and applications. Must be comfortable using computers and software applications. Must have a current driver's license and pass a background check. Must be able to tutor and mentor students as required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree OR Four (4) years' experience in performing the above or related duties, OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
