JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction and guidance of the Operations Manager – Innovation Center, the Pilot Plant Technician I is responsible for Pilot Plant runs which includes equipment setup, maintenance, operation, and housekeeping duties. This position requires attention to detail, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. In addition, the position requires conducting routine preventive maintenance and emergency maintenance of Pilot Plant equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct Pilot Plant runs which includes equipment setup, maintenance, operation, data collection, and housekeeping duties
Operate the plant using HMI and radio communication
Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the facility
Assemble small equipment for external customers or use in the Innovation Center.
Conduct routine maintenance of Pilot Plant equipment
Work at heights, confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions
Troubleshoot mechanical and chemical processes
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors
Respond to requests from internal and external customers
Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Engineer Boiler License
Assist with technical, field assistance, and/or training for customers in maintenance, installation, operation, and startup of all Crown Iron Works processes
Help with generating customer reports
Adhere to safety policies and procedures of Crown Iron Works and OSHA.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school (preferred but not required)
Schedule flexibility: shift work (afternoons or nights)
Plant environment: ability to handle exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise
Self-motivated: takes initiative and collaborates.
Comprehension: ability to follow oral, written, and technical instructions
Communication: clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Special Engineer Boiler License (preferred but not required)
Forklift Certification (preferred but not required)
Welding and/or machinery operation background (preferred but not required)
Computer skills: ability to use Microsoft Outlook
