We are seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to conduct field operations including sampling, testing, special inspections, and observation utilizing ASTM, DOT, ACI, AWS, and IBC methods and standards. The role involves assisting the engineering staff with project execution and management by understanding engineering practices and construction methodologies as indicated by codes and specifications. Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications is essential. The position also includes conducting laboratory analysis of construction materials according to specified methods and standards. Physical activities such as walking through uneven, difficult terrain, long spans of standing, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs are required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field operations such as sampling, testing, special inspections, and observation utilizing ASTM, DOT, ACI, AWS, and IBC methods and standards.

  • Assist engineering staff with project execution and management by understanding engineering practices and construction methodologies.

  • Read and understand construction plans and specifications proficiently.

  • Conduct laboratory analysis of construction materials according to specified methods and standards.

  • Engage in physical activities including walking through uneven terrain, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 75 lbs.

Essential Skills

  • Density testing

  • Concrete testing

  • ACI certification

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; preference given to candidates with two-year or four-year college degrees in science, construction, or engineering.

  • Equivalent work history will be considered.

  • Ability to test and achieve required certification following training.

  • Current certifications (DOT, ACI, AWS, etc.) or testing laboratory experience preferred.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience in civil engineering or construction preferred.

  • Proficiency in report writing, organization, and utilization of technology.

Work Environment

The work environment includes outdoor job sites where you will need to deal with various elements as long as there is no precipitation. Projects will take place in Alabama State Office and Escambia County later in the year. You will be working with a growing department that is currently small but has a reputable company with a lot of work in their backlog.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
