Job Description:
At Regions, the Regions Affordable Housing Underwriting Team Manager leads a team responsible for partnering with Relationship Managers in the closing process for Regions Affordable Housing (RAH). This position leads the closing and approval process and ensures prudent underwriting and production for transactions using Regions debt and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (the “Housing Credit”). This position is also responsible for directly managing a small portfolio of clients.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages production on behalf of the underwriting function specifically for debt and equity transactions using the housing credit, balancing internal risk management and investor requirements with production and specific closing timeframes
Works with leadership and peers on new and ongoing client activities, allocating resources for both potential transactions and closings, and updating appropriate reports as required
Stays abreast of client needs by directly managing a small portfolio of clients and closing his or her own transactions
Ensures transactions are underwritten to internal underwriting and risk management standards, both for Held for Sale and Held for Investment transactions
Oversees response to internal or investor questions related to closings or closed transactions and works with Distribution to address Investor presentations and inquiries
Acts as a resource, guide, and quality control function for the team
Responds to key risk management organizational groups including Credit Review, Risk Management, and Audit for identification of any weaknesses in the risk management practices and works to mitigate any identified weaknesses as part of the exam or audit process
Understands Regions policy and RAH procedures, articulates those standards to the team as necessary, and manages team adherence to policy and procedure
Works with peers to establish consistency in procedures and transaction work across RAH
Ensure proper process and procedures are being executed accurately and efficiently
Hires, coaches, manages performance, and develops RAH underwriting associates
Ensures team remains compliant with Regions systems and process integration
Serves in a leadership position for underwriting initiatives and strategic activities within RAH
Serves periodically on committees, task forces, and other groups as needed
Represents RAH and Regions Bank at industry events as appropriate
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Ten (10) years of commercial/corporate banking or commercial credit experience
Two (2) years of supervisory/management experience
Completion of a major corporate credit training program or equivalent corporate banking/finance experience
Preferences
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or similar graduate degree or training
Housing credit specific experience
Advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, and capital markets
Skills and Competencies
Ability to research, analyze data, and derive facts
Ability to supervise and manage a team effectively
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
Strong work ethic and self-motivation

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

Incentive Pay Plans:
This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive plan. Employees have the potential to receive a discretionary award based on performance against defined metrics and goals.Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
