    At AMERICAN, we're looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Product Engineering Technician to play a critical role in implementing and maintaining our product data systems. This role is vital in ensuring smooth manufacturing and business operations, allowing you to make a significant impact on product development and technical services. What You Will Do:

  • Implement and maintain product data in configuration software to support order entry, manufacturing, and other business activities.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Manufacturing, IT, Cost Accounting, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Project Management to manage and update product data and structures.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of systems and processes, including time studies and engineering change order systems.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for product lines and new products and ensure up-to-date product data in the corporate system.
  • Assist in creating bills of materials (BOM), coordinating routes and standards, and maintaining the AMERICAN Products Engineering Change Order System.

Ideal Candidate:

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with AMERICAN Ductile Iron Pipe, waterworks industry products, or similar relevant product knowledge.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing processes.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and configuration software (e.g., Optimus, ASI, JDE, Microsoft Dynamics AX).
  • Experience working with product data, corporate item masters (CIM/DIM), and configuration software testing.
  • Previous experience in cost analysis within a manufacturing environment is a plus.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with internal teams to implement changes in business systems for new products or process updates.
  • Document and train employees on products, processes, and business activities.
  • Provide valuable product knowledge to teams such as Project Coordinators and Supply Chain.

  • Ability to handle confidential information and maintain data integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to document procedures and changes clearly and concisely.
