Job Summary

The Senior Business Systems Analyst works with the Project Manager and other IT staff delivering functional business requirements, and managing testing cycles for call center technology applications. The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the development of documentation for existing and proposed business processes and functional specifications, as well as the facilitation of joint application design sessions with users and IT staff. Typically, the Senior Business Systems Analyst is assigned to one or more business units of medium to large size and the project assignments are medium to large scale, moderately to highly complex, and/or moderately to highly visible.

Responsibilities

Technology

  • Develops and maintains user documentation and instructions for all systems for which he or she is responsible
  • Defines processing logic and translates high level business requirements into detailed functional design documents
  • Throughout the development process works to ensure that results conform to defined requirements
  • Works closely with end users to develop required test data
  • Performs system testing and facilitates User Acceptance Testing
  • Verifies test results for accuracy and manages the solution of any and all defects

IT Business Expertise

  • Thoroughly researches subjects to support project work
  • Performs routine data collection, organization, workflow and support analysis
  • Provides direction/support for the preparation of quality deliverables
  • Ability to define workflow for improvements and resolving issues
  • Documents and presents project status

Operational Management

  • Coordinates expectations and deliverables on inter/intra projects
  • Supports special projects and analysis related to initiative
  • Assures smooth functioning of processes and procedures
  • Analyzes data, trends or obstacles and considers available solutions or alternative methods of proceeding

Business Analysis

  • Conducts the requirements gathering and design documentation activities for medium to large scale applications development, package implementation, and/or system integration projects
  • Prepares business and functional requirements for new systems and for updates to existing systems
  • Assesses customer requirements, analyzes business events, and evaluates and documents possible solutions
  • Researches and collaborates with other project teams tasked with identifying current and future business needs

Project Management

  • Coordinates and facilitates cross application meetings to define business processes and functional requirements
  • Drives identification and resolution of issues related to business processes and functional requirements
  • Documents meeting outcomes through meeting notes and other documents as appropriate

Customer Service

  • Understands fundamentals of customer's business
  • Understands customer needs and performs sound business analysis work
  • Delivers results that drive customer satisfaction
  • Knowledgeable about critical success factors for the customer
  • Demonstrates high level of commitment to customers' success
  • Maintains a detailed understanding of assigned business process area(s)

Vendor Management

  • Understands scope of work to be done and project resources available; reports status of work efforts; reports on issues and risks to project delivery
  • Coordinates work efforts, communicates functional requirements and business needs to ensure systems are developed and maintained to support and satisfy business users
  • Understands business initiatives to deliver solutions and provide recommendations regarding IT systems in support of business objectives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business (or Management), Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years of full life cycle experience with both custom development and packaged application deployment, including experience working within a formal development methodology
  • Knowledge of Optimum's business practices and/or industry
  • Experience with specific call center technology systems such as IVR, ACD, Agent Desktop Tools, Call Recording applications, Chatbot, or prior experience in a call center environment is highly valuable
  • Experience with Microsoft products such as Outlook, Excel, Visio, Power Point, SQL
  • Full understanding of project management processes and steps
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and adjust priorities based on workload or direction from management or customer
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle, specifically requirements gathering and documentation, is desired
  • Proven analytical ability related to analysis of functional business processes
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $77,112.00-$126,684.00/year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
