The Amazon WW Deals and Promotions team is looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to work on our worldwide feature that helps Amazon customers find great Promotions on great products.

Promotions are an integral part of the Amazon shopping experience and we are a key element of events like Prime Day. Our features are used by hundreds of millions of customers and we are responsible for the multi-billion dollar business. We partner with teams throughout the Amazon ecosystem to optimize promotions ingestion, classification and ranking, Promotions discovery throughout the site, and to raise the bar for the best customer experience on mobile app, web, desktop.

We are passionate about building well-designed, robust and scalable software to deliver inspiring user experiences that delight our customers. We are looking for enthusiastic developers who have experience building state of the art software systems. We offer the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and tools, on innovative and sophisticated features that customers love, as part of a team of passionate and experienced Amazon engineers in the multi-cultural environment of the Amazon Development Center in Berlin.

As an SDE, your responsibilities range from reviewing product requirements and designing the software architecture that fulfills them, to translating the requirements to engineering tasks and implementing them. Together with front-end engineers you will be responsible for delivering production-ready code that will be used by hundreds of millions of Amazon customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience (non-internship) in professional software development

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
