Walmart Senior Manager, Design and Construction in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Drives construction and engineering projects by developing, evaluating, and managing project schedules; ensuring contractors are provided accurate and timely information; managing material procurement and delivery to be synchronized with schedules; supporting and ensuring execution of contract completion; driving modified project completion dates; driving system issue resolution; requesting design changes to meet budget, timeline, and quality standards; reviewing out-to-bid accuracy (for example, adequate information, complete plans and specifications); overseeing document preparation and completion (for example, close-out, punch lists, prototype updates, construction change directives, materials testing, special instructions); ensuring project close documentation; monitor and control project expenses; driving and documenting correction of errors for use on future projects.

Drives major corporate change initiatives to ensure completion by leading large scale, cross-functional strategies that impact club financial, and systems processes; balancing workload and resources to achieve strategic design goals; developing and driving one to three year plans for multiple business category strategic initiatives; partnering with business sponsors and eliminating barriers; driving strategy milestones for business process changes and systems development; and obtaining agreement and support from senior leadership.

Drives format and design innovation by Identifying new design format prototypes; collaborating with internal and external teams (for example, civil engineering, architects, municipalities); researching material and format technologies; providing subject matter expertise; and developing innovative strategies and designs that improve member experience, reduce costs, simplify operations and improve return on investments.

Provides on-site construction management direction by collaborating with internal and external business units (for example, legal, Walmart construction team, store planning, real estate); visiting sites as required; ensuring construction quality is consistent with design specifications; observing construction activity; providing subject matter direction and job knowledge guidance to internal and external support teams to modify design and site specific issues; guiding senior leadership support teams through new club or remodel project sites; engaging in public relations activities; conducting inspection of construction sites to ensure internal and external regulatory compliance; issuing construction change directives; initiating material and design review or testing; and suspending work as required.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.

Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$155,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
