SUMMARY:

Provides support to Technology department, District and schools as it relates to networking, computer systems and cybersecurity. Advises Director of Information Technology on systems related to day-to-day operations of Information Technology within the District. Develops efficiencies for infrastructure operations, providing support and assuring proper performance, implementation and disaster recovery of those technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following, are non-exhaustive andmay besupplemented. Other dutiesmay beassigned.

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining information technology systems within all areas of the District.
  • Assists Director of IT in designing network architecture.
  • Installs, maintains and monitors District network (routers, switches, access points, phone system, fiber network, security cameras, etc.) throughout the District.
  • Assists Director of IT in designing systems, servers, backups, disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Proactively monitors District infrastructure for security threats and intrusions; actively engages in quarantine and remediation of any threats and intrusions on District network.
  • Assists in enabling key personnel with individual backups and Multi-Factor Authentication.
  • Assists IT Director with compliance related to audits and requirements for District insurance policies.
  • Assists schools and departments with all network, systems and technology needs.
  • Responsible in assisting in the development, implementation, management and maintenance of all applications, infrastructure, security, networks, and technology training, as well as comprehensive support for the teaching and learning activities of the staff and students.
  • Assists Director of IT with e-Rate cycle plans, funding and implementation.
  • Assists with the purchase of technology equipment and materials following procurement rules and regulations and District budget requirements.
  • Assists the IT Director with managing user accounts in Active Directory and Google Admin.
  • Provides technology support, maintenance, and training for successful implementation of district technology initiatives.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, and other events as assigned or appropriate.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional demeanor with strong ethical standards and ability to adapt to change.
  • Knowledge of information technology operations as they apply to the public education setting.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, vlans, segmentation, etc.).
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of data centers, computer systems, virtual machines, server infrastructure, storage arrays, cloud infrastructure, etc.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity practices.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Excellent computer skills (Macintosh, Windows, Google Operating Systems) and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, on multiple projects simultaneously both as a team member and individually.
  • Ability to work effectively with others of diverse backgrounds and various education levels and to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessita ted by work assignments.
  • Ability to train and communicate with non-technical staff including the ability to present complex concepts in easily understood graphical or visual presentations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Thispositionhas no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Degree, certification or training in computer science or information technology (preferred).
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in information technology, information systems, networking, cybersecurity or related subject area, with appropriate education coursework preferred.
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, certifications, skills, and/or work experience as approved by the Superintendent.
