Job Description Summary

As Senior manager - Software engineering, you will apply your knowledge of Software Engineering best practices, and proven processes to lead teams to deliver a software product on budget, within planned schedule with superb quality. This role involves leading a diverse team of Software engineers specialized in Software development, Design for Reliability, Test automation, and Verification & Validation. In this role, you will build a Software Engineering team that consistently defines, tests, and delivers features with quality that go into the next generation IoMT Patient Monitoring Platform. As a leader of this team, you and your team will collaborate with Program, Architecture, and System engineering teams to design, develop and test product features. The Senior Manager Software Engineering will report to the Director – Software Engineering responsible for PCS Monitoring Solutions’ next generation IoMT platform.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Provide functional leadership of the team, team/talent development, skill set improvement, mentoring, resource prioritization and allocation including headcount and base cost budget.

• Lead the engineering team comprised of Software Engineers, Software test automation & manual test engineers, through the product development lifecycle while meeting quality, regulatory compliance, cost, and business targets.

• Provide technical, people, and process leadership.

• Provide regular coaching, feedback, developmental/growth opportunities to the team members.

• Collaborate with the Program, Architecture, System engineering and functional leadership.

• Communicate effectively with leadership, providing transparency to the status, quality, and throughput of work through metrics and reviews

• Operate as an engaged leader who serves as a subject matter and technical expert for assigned programs and development initiatives.

• Propose trade-offs as appropriate and drive for timely decisions.

• Energize the team for strong engagement on programs.

• Translate & communicate program strategies to the team.

• Drive a culture of innovation, engineering excellence, accountability, and global collaboration.

• Drive local vendor partnership effectiveness.

• Work with functional managers to effectively realize functional excellence in the various disciplines of the product development.

• Plan and manage budgets working with cross functional stake holders.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelors/Master's degree in Electronics, Biomedical or Computer Engineering or equivalent discipline.

• 15+ years overall progressive engineering work experience through a variety of program and functional leadership roles.

• Demonstrated experience in leading Software Engineering teams.

• Demonstrated experience of software development life cycle as part of building successful commercial engineering products. Proficient with technical design, programming, and testing practices.

• Programming language proficiency in any of following: Java, Python, C/C++ Demonstrated knowledge of Reliability practice in product design. Experience in managing teams that drive reliability strategy, development and execution at subsystem and system level.

• Good understanding of Platform Software Integration strategies.

• Experience in performance testing of containerized applications on Linux platform

• Sound knowledge of BDD/ TDD based software test automation, Hybrid automation frameworks (preferably cucumber & JBehave)

• Exposure on scripting languages such as shell, powershell perl & python etc

• Good experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GIT, etc) and established standard DevOps practices.

• Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development framework

• Proven Analytical and Problem Resolution Skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Strong Debugging and Troubleshooting Expertise

• Experience working in a global, matrixed organization.

Desired characteristics

• Masters Degree in Electronics, Biomedical, Computer Engineering or in an equivalent discipline.

• Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others

• Minimum of 2 years of engineering management experience and providing leadership to direct reports

• Good Understanding of full stack platform concepts and technologies.

• Experience in containerization platforms like Docker & Kubernetes

• Experience with Quality Management System, Product development framework and associated tools.

• Good understanding of monitoring domain, workflows, essential parameters, and data models

• Demonstrated knowledge of FDA design controls requirements

• Experience of driving activities to influence code quality and process rigor
