We are seeking a talented Controls Systems Research Engineer specializing in advanced controls, estimation, and modelling. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both physics-based and AI-based modelling techniques, along with a passion for pushing the boundaries of control systems technology. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work independently as well as with a diverse team and Conduct innovative research in the field of advanced controls, estimation, and modelling, with a focus on both physics-based and AI-based approaches. Stay abreast of the latest developments in control systems theory and apply cutting-edge techniques to solve complex engineering challenges.

  • Design, develop, and implement advanced control algorithms for real-time applications.

  • Leverage mathematical modelling techniques to create robust and efficient control strategies that optimize system performance and reliability.

  • Validate performance of developed solution through simulations and application on target product to mature technology to be transferred to the business.

  • Document technology and results through patent applications, technical reports, and publications.

  • ​Work in a team environment with colleagues across GE Vernova Research, and GE Vernova business units.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Strong theoretical foundation in control systems theory, estimation theory, and mathematical modelling.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or C/C++.

  • Experience with both physics-based modelling techniques (e.g., differential equations, state-space models) and AI-based modelling techniques (e.g., machine learning, neural networks).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated experience (algorithm development and software implementation) in developing systems solutions for complex physical systems.

  • Strong analytical skills, familiarity with robust modelling/analysis techniques.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.

  • Prior experience in a research or development role focused on advanced controls, estimation, or modelling.

  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations related to control systems design and implementation.

  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and real-time control systems.

  • Knowledge of optimization techniques and numerical methods for system identification and parameter estimation.
