GE Healthcare India & South Asia Compliance Manager in Bengaluru, India

Job Description Summary

This role will lead GE HealthCare’s compliance program for India and South Asia and be an active member of the India and South Asia leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for, among other things: (i) providing proactive compliance support and leadership to the business; (ii) leading the Zone compliance team, and collaborating with the business and broader GL&P colleagues to foster a culture of performance with unyielding integrity; (iii) implementing global compliance policies, procedures and processes within the region and across zones, and leading regional compliance communications and training with an eye on key external and internal trends; (iv) conducting risk assessment and mitigation activities; (v) leading implementation of GE HealthCare’s Improper Payment Prevention and Dealer Compliance programs locally; (vi) supporting and conducting investigations; (vii) evaluating compliance metrics to identify trends and conduct root cause analysis; (viii) supporting business and company compliance initiatives and objective; and (ix) creating analysis and providing compliance assurance to the Board and Management of Wipro GE to help drive the set-up, development, and execute on a comprehensive risk and governance strategy, and support key compliance initiatives to ensure sustainable and compliant business growth.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the India and South Asia Compliance program in partnership with the regional CEO and management

  • With Wipro GE Board and India leadership, (a) be responsible for compliance assurance and sign off, including the development of accurate and relevant compliance metrics and reports, including emerging trends for Management Teams and the Board, (b) support specific projects undertaken to strengthen overall control, compliance and review by the Audit Committee of the Board in conjunction with members of the risk functions – legal, finance, controllership

  • Drive proactive compliance leadership and engagement to create a culture of compliance with policies, processes, controls and other initiatives in the region

  • Direct leadership of a team of compliance professionals, which includes coaching and development

  • Develop metrics and dashboards in coordination with global team and the regional teams to provide leadership with appropriate indicators of compliance health

  • Provide training support to the business on GE HealthCare’s The Spirit & Letter and other global, regional and business policies and procedures, including, for example, coordinating with the global compliance team to manage the business’ Channel Partners/Third Parties, including due diligence, on-boarding, training and auditing

  • With global and region compliance, legal and controllership team, develop relevant and timely compliance communications and trainings to embed the program in day-to-day activities

  • With business leadership, lead the regional Compliance Review Board (CRB) and participate in the regional enterprise risk management (ERM) to drive real-time and relevant discussions of compliance topics, risks, mitigations and program efforts, and ensure any sub-regional/zone CRBs are held with appropriate cadence and relevant content

  • Coordinate with region compliance and business leadership to implement business risk assessment initiatives and drive mitigation plans arising therefrom, including reviewing and addressing local site risks by creating awareness through employee engagement efforts, monitoring concerns and assessing operations at these sites

  • Monitor internal and external compliance trends, including compliance initiatives, industry compliance failures and applicable, industry specific regulatory requirements

  • Coordinate with global/region/local Ombuds investigations team to support GE HealthCare’s open reporting system, leading or assisting with investigations, as required, and ensuring matters are closed quickly and appropriate remediation actions are taken. Support business leadership in driving the open reporting program and conducting risk roll-up discussions with colleagues

  • Coordinate with the audit, compliance COEs and relevant business owners to support regular monitoring and audits of compliance areas and support driving requisite improvements/resolutions for issues identified, including identification of trends and conducting root cause analysis of issues

  • Identify and resolve compliance-related procedural issues and areas of improvement, and ensure remediation actions plans are established, implemented and tracked through to closure

  • Coordinate with compliance leaders and other zone and region compliance leads to roll-out and implement compliance priorities

  • Any other responsibilities that may be identified by the Executive Compliance Leader or the Zonal General Counsel or Zone CEO from time-to-time

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years professional experience in compliance, risk mitigation, investigations, audit, operational and/or other relevant assurance areas in India, preferably with a multi-national life sciences or healthcare company

  • Knowledge of and experience with compliance issues, such as: anti-corruption/Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, India Companies Act and anti-corruption laws, third party compliance, anti-money laundering, controllership, conflict of interest, supplier relationships

  • Previous experience in: (a) identifying and resolving compliance issues quickly and effectively; (b) ability to make timely and informed management calls with proven ability to drive operational excellence; and (c) developing and implementing compliance policies, processes and procedures

  • Proven ability to manage high-performing teams across multiple areas, while continuing to be business partners and lead change

  • Ability to brief Board Members and Senior Management on critical topics and influence senior management to drive sustainable cultural and organizational change

  • Strong grasp of business ethics policies, current compliance practices and relevant industry standards

  • Strong business acumen, ability to detect emerging compliance and industry trends and develop appropriate responses

  • Experience in leading and handling critical investigations, including implementation of corrective actions

  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and to facilitate risk-assessment and decision-making

  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct

  • Demonstrable verbal and written fluency in English

  • Superior communication skills, inter-personal skills, mature judgment and independent thinking

  • Global mindset, able to deal with people from all different backgrounds and cultures
