Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience as a Software Engineer.

• 15 years of experience in engineering, and 10 years of experience leading organizations of engineers.

• Experience as a Director of Engineering in a technology company or technology arm of an enterprise, or as CTO/VP in a scale-up with experience leading 100 or more engineers.

• Experience in application development and distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in paid products and/or e-commerce.

• Understanding of ML.

As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for building out a portfolio of core and strategic products that are already located in the region and driving technical and product strategy for the further development of those products and possibly others in the future. You will lead a team of Engineering Managers and Senior Software Engineers, and work on developing an organizational strategy for the future. You will mentor and develop other technical leads in the region, including those in Product Management and UX roles, and will be an attractor of diverse talent and a builder of culture for YouTube teams in the Bangalore office.

• Shape the technical and product direction for the YouTube Shopping Horizontals team.

• Be an exceptional communicator and global leader who can work effectively synchronously and asynchronously across time zones, regions, and cultures.

• Partner with key technical leaders within YouTube, and across Google product areas (e.g., Search/Commerce, Ads, Research) to evolve the technical ecosystem to support the YouTube Shopping strategy and business.

• Work on business agreements that have important technical implications, understand those implications, and help influence cross-functional teams in a way that aligns to our technical and product roadmaps.
