This position will diagnose and perform repairs of a significant nature at outdoor job sites throughout Northwestern MN and North Dakota. This includes a variety road construction equipment and operating plants. Per diem available when scheduled work requires overnight stay out of area. Minimum Qualifications: A successful Traveling Mechanic with Knife River Materials will have: * 2+ years of post high school or equivalent work, military, institutional or vocational environment in mechanic field or maintaining road construction equipment * Demonstrated mechanical knowledge to diagnose component, troubleshoot, repair, communicate and document * Ability to provide and maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card and acceptable driving record. * Previous mechanical experience with Highway Heavy or earthmoving equipment preferred Will travel to job sites, stay overnight, and weekends during the construction season, March - November.
